When you first arrive at WDW - What makes you think "we're here"!

For me, it hits when I get into MCO and I see the families leaving to head home with their Disney merchandise and I see the huge Disney store on the way to the transporation area.

Like many of the other posters have said....I know I'm there when we land at MCO and I get to ride on the airport monorail! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I tear up, too. When we went for Christmas of 2002, that was the first time I had ever been to WDW. December 19th, around 10:00 AM...I walk up in the front after having my bag check by security...but not in the park yets and I see Mickey to the left, Minnie in the middle and Donald and Daisy to the right...I grab my daughter's autograph book, quickly go buy her a pen...she is so excited that I am about to burst...we get over to Mickey and we are standing in line....her turn is next, Mickey bends down to give her a hug and I start to cry...my 5-year-old is so excited and mommy cannot stand it...she wants to to come over and we get our picture taken together with Mickey....I was bighting back tears....so 3 days later, we head to the Port Canaveral....I get on the ship and they announce our family by sirname..I start crying and feel so special. I was 29 for crying out loud....no true Disney fan is untouched by how special Disney makes you feel.

WDW is a place for forgetting you have a job, bills or any other adult responsibility. You are not silly!!!!

When I drive, it would have to be the stop at the disney welcome center in Ocala. The rest of the time it would be entering Main Street USA that does it for me. Susan

There are degrees of excitement and "knowing" when you are there.

The "monorail" at MCO is the start... then there's the Disney Store at MCO (the my DH never lets me stop at)... then there are the street signs that say how far you are... of course the entrance sign is a huge sign of being there! I think that hearing "Welcom Home" for the first time on this upcoming trip is going to make me cry and really solidify the fact that I am in WDW!

WDW is a place for forgetting you have a job, bills or any other adult responsibility.

You said it! That is what I tell everyone who asks me why I love WDW so much!

The Welcome sign is it! Also, the highway signs for the resort exits! We're Here! We're Here!!!

We drove down for our first family trip in 2003, and I screamed every time I saw one of those cool 3-D billboards. The whole family screamed (including DH - very unusual) when we first saw that blue welcome sign. The real moment for me and the one I am most looking forward to is the second that train pulls into the station at MK opening. That look on the girls' faces is forever in my heart!!! Only 6 1/2 more months!!!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Random knowledge: The "Voice" on the monorail at MCO and the voice on the WDW monorails are the same. Both were recorded by Jack Wagner, who did a lot of voice over work for Disney.

("Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor mantanganse alijado de las puertas.")

Thanks bytheblood!!!

That was nice. I'm glad to hear that others get emotional like I do.

By the way, I love your user name!!! (literally)

:)

That Big sign that you drive under welcoming you to WDW!!! I get that giddy crazy jumping feeling at the pit of my stomach. Then driving to your resort and seeing it for the first time.......... 3 more weeks, 3 more weeks, I'm already getting excited!!!

Several things for me:

Seeing the sign welcoming you to the park.

Watching classic Disney cartoons in the hotel room.

Arriving at one of the parks for the first time.

Walking down Main Street USA and seeing Cinderella's Castle for the first time.

the mouse ears do it for us. As soon as we turn off 192 onto sherbeth road or further down. Chills just go all over me.

Stepping off the plane at MCO and getting that blast of hot, humid air after a PA winter does it for me.

The welcome signs when entering the park property, seeing the monorail (that closes the deal for our train loving 2 yr old son), and rolling down the window to hear the train whistle at MK!

These are great guys! Now I'm going to have to look for the electrical Mickey Tower. I don't remember seeing that. I can't wait till I see all these wonderful reminders this weekend when we get there.

By the blood. I know what you mean about getting so emotional. I feel the same way.

Keep them coming, these are fun!

My excitement grows in phases. The first being the moment we step off the plane at MCO! Then the excitement grows as we pull into the resort. I get a really excited when we pass under the Walt Disney World sign heading into the park. Then finally I'm in tears as I stand on Main Street looking at Cinderella's Castle. I never dreamed I'd become such a Disney "freak" but apparently I've been bit by the bug! :earsgirl:

Driving through the Main Welcome to Walt Disney World Sign and also my first glimpse of the Castle of course! OH MAN, Getting excited! We're going in 15 days!

the interstate, signs leading to the resorts and sitting down with the maps!!!!!!!!!!

As soon as we hear the "Please stand clear of the closing doors" voice on the monorail in the airport.
