We try to get as much prepped as possible but everyone always ends up in the kitchen gabbing while DH is cooking.

We're strictly casual entertainers - 99% of the time it's everyone around the grill calling out their orders, or pizza delivery during a game or whatever. If it gets much fancier than that, we all just go out to dinner and let the restaurant deal with it.

I cook "live" for holiday meals. Otherwise I make salads etc ahead of time and grill burgers or we order take out.

I never cook prior for company only for ourselves. Not everyone likes prior, some are allergic and some can't stand the smell of priors but we love them.

I always have everything ready to serve when the guests arrive. My kitchen is too small to have people in it other than the cook and it makes life easier to just have everything ready.

We have mostof everything done b4 anyone arrives. If we are grilling the food is cooked when everyone is ready, but all the fixins are prepped, and in the serving bowls/platters. Drinks are iced, plates and plastic/silver ware is out, etc.

Depends. Our kitchen is pretty small so I like to get as much done as possible.
