when you clean do you need an empty house?

Umm that's ME!! I do not like coming home to a messy house.

I don't either, but it's a shame that the only time my house stays clean, I'm not there to enjoy it.

Yup. I have never cleaned a toilet since I left my parent's home.

Yes! I cannot clean if DH is here. And I thought it was just me! Just the other day, I started dustmopping the floor when he was here, and he gave me the strangest look... I realized he probably rarely sees me clean the house! (I only dustmopped when he was here because he has been working lots of nights leaving me no time to clean because he's always here during the daytime now.) I wonder how he thinks the house must get clean- maid fairies? A self-cleaning house?

So who cleans their house really, really good before they leave for vacation?

I do, and I sure hope the robbers enjoy it, because as soon as we're back, it's trashed again.

It's probably one of the dumbest things I do.

This is something else that I do that DH thinks is crazy. I can't leave the house messy! I also clean house before hurricane evacuations.

Marti! What are we doing for (breakfast, lunch, dinner you pick)

Marti! Do we have enough money for me to buy ______________?

Marti! Come listen to this cool guitar lick I just learned.

Marti! Since you're not doing anything, why don't you help me (stack wood, rake the lawn, mow the yard, feed the dogs, change the oil,... insert any variable here).

Marti! Do you mind if ____________ comes over for dinner? I just invited them.

*phone rings* Marti! Who is that on the phone?

Much easier when no one is around. I can get it done in half the time if DH isn't home. Sometimes I wish I was like Samantha and could just twitch my nose and the house would be clean. I twitch and twitch but there's a glitch.

I actually just had DH do this last week - take the kids with him and go away and visit his mother. He was gone all day and didn't come home until 8 at night. It was WONDERFUL. I got everything done, (and then some!) in half the time, and then got to relax!!! The amount of work I did that day was more than I could ever do in a week with the kids or DH home, so I was the real hero when they got back, and I still got to relax a bit.

BTW, I clean before vacation too. You never know who you might need to get into your house in an emergency....and god forbid they see how we REALLY live!

I do that too! It drives my DH nuts! And I stress myself out like noone's business, between getting the house perfect and packing for the trip! We usually have a house sitter stay while we're gone for the pets, and I don't want them to think I'm a slob Plus, there is nothing worse than coming home to a messy house. Bad enough the vacation had to end!

Yes, I am this way too! That's why I like having a weekday off work when dh is at work and dd at school. Otherwise, they kind of sit around and just watch and I feel like I need to dust them off
