When you check in...........

I have a question, when you guys check in, do you have specific requests you tell the CM you'd like or take what you get? When I make my ressies, I just ask for a nonsmoking and pretty much that's all. Our last visit (BCV), it was a one bedroom and a lock off-4 of us (adults) and our deck sucked.
There was no deck from our master bedroom, just that tiny 2 person thing. Everything was fine, but I'd longingly see these folks with these giant decks sitting outside and we could only fit 2 of us at a time. One time we two couples sat on our own decks and just talked loudly to each other. The guy below wasn't pleased at all! Yes, I know there are dedicated 2 bedrooms at the BCV (with killer decks), but MS advised me it was less points to do a lock off. Lesson learned.

I'm just curious when you folks check in if you whip out your map of the resort and ask for specific rooms, big decks, etc etc..........or just take what you get.

We ask for non-smoking for medical reasons. We usually put in one other request for a general area of a resort. These are done at the time of the reservation being made.

When we check in at the desk, we confirm the non-smoking. We don't worry about the rest of the requests as they really aren't all that critical to our enjoyment of our stay.

Yes we like a balcony and a good view is better than a lousy one. But in the scheme of things, we tend to take what is given to us and be thankful for the chance to visit WDW once again.

Keep in mind that someone had to get the room you described from your last trip. If you have requests, it's better to make them up front. I can't imagine standing at the check in desk with a map to make sure a room fits my needs. YMMV.

I have stayed at all the resorts including HH & VB. Always request no smoking, certain buildings and floor levels. About 70 % of the time we don't get what we requested. I have not had good luck in changing to what I requestd when I check in.
