then just do this!

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. -- An Alabama woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police say she let her daughter ride in a cardboard box on top of their van. Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said the 37-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after police received a call about a minivan on a state highway with a child riding on top.

Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Smith said the mother told officers it was safe because she had the box secured to the van with a clothes hanger.
The 13-year-old daughter wasn't harmed and was turned over to a relative. A jail worker said the mother was out on bond Monday.

I have no words to express what I'm thinking right now. Like it wasn't bad enough to begin with - she was on the highway on top of it :scared1:

Because an empty box is soooo much more valuable that your child...:sad2:

Good GOSH! Why on earth did she need a box so large that it wouldn't fit in her van anyway? What a bizzare story...sometimes you truly wonder what people are using for brains.

These types of stories make me want to have potential parents take a basic common sense test before procreating.

If the box was empty then just break it down and fold it. It should then fit in the van.

OMG can you imagine seeing a minivan with a kid in a box riding on top!!!

These are the kinds of stories I suspect provide Darwin with a little chuckle wherever he is spending his eternity.

On a serious note though I often wonder how the heck people manage to survive into adulthood when they have lived their entire life with this kinds of decision making ability.

We've worked very hard at abstracting people from the costs and consequences of their actions.

I would like to see the mental gymnastics it takes to get to the point where one says,!

Wheeee!! :confused3
I hate to see animals riding in the back of trucks........I can't imagine seeing a child in a box!

:thumbsup2

<sarcasm>Although in this situation it was not the parent's fault because the box manufacturer didn't have a warning on the box that said it shouldn't be used to transport your child via car roof. </sarcasm>

sorry but I got a chuckle out of this statement. bet ya anything that would be her excuse.

I saw an interview with her last night and even though she said she knew that what she had done was wrong, it was obvious she didn't really see the problem. She actually said something like "But I was driving as slow as I could - like 20 miles per hour - so it was really safe." As of yesterday the woman was back home and her child had been returned to her.

we always jokingly tell DD we're gonna have her sit in the trunk or on the roof:rotfl:........can't believe someone would seriously consider it.........scary!

:scared1: What an idiot! I just hope that people won't think that everybody from Alabama acts this way(or any other southern state!)

I guess some idiots have never learned the "trick" of breaking a box down.... :sad2:

You can drive as slow as you want lady but when that box slides off you have to worry about how fast everyone else on the road is going...

I love the line... it was safe, she secured it with a coat hanger. :confused3 How did she do it? Did she thread the loop part thru the box then window leaving the larger part upside down so her daughter had something to hang onto?
