Are there any strings attached, or is it just as easy to cancel or modify reservations without penalty? TIA. ~~

There is no problem canceling a reservation. They use Travelocity as their back end. If you want to go through the car company directly, when you get to the results page, click on change your search, then click on all search options. You can see what code they are using to get your rate. You can then copy them to the car companies web site.
