When would you do Pirates league for MNSSHP?

So I am thinking I want to have my kids do the Pirate place at MK the day we do the MNSSHP. My daughter has done BBB and my son will be 4 and her 7 the next trip so I though it would be nice to gear some things for him and not so much princess stuff and I figure they can do a mermaid on her if she would rather have that. Anyways I am thinking I'd let them pick costumes there to match whatever they get. He could be a pirate and her a pirate or mermaid. That day we would do MK at RD and then probably take a couple hour break in the afternoon before the party. My question because of the heat and the face paint. Would you do the pirates league right before break to have it done with like say after lunch? Or wait until we come back to the park and get it done like right around 4 so its nice and fresh for the party? I don't know how long it takes to get two kids done there and wasn't sure how much time we would need. We would want to make sure we ate too before the party started. Thanks Also does anyone know if you can pick your package the day or or do you have to choose it ahead of time like BBB so they know how much time to schedule for you.

We did pirates league for our two kids (3 and 6 at the time) when we went last year. We were only going for the party so I made the appointment for about 4:30 (I think) so basically pretty much as early as possible before the party. It took forever! I think they get super slammed on party nights. We waited as long as it took to do the makeup I would say. By the time we were done we weren't to ride any rides before our 6:00pm res at BOG (another mistake that ate into party time but I am glad we got to eat dinner there). It was a pretty cool experience if your kids are into that but if you're going into the park earlier, I would say get it done earlier if you're not going to go swimming or something like that and you're going to be in the park anyway. The mermaid makeup was pretty resilient, it was a little smeared by the end of the night due to my daughter rubbing her face. You do pick your package the day of since all the packages take pretty much the same amount of time. They might have asked me when I made the res but they definitely let you choose when you get there. My daughter loved that she could keep her makeup at the end too.
