When would be the better time to go?

Hi. I'm a frequent WDW visitor who is planning to make his first trip to Disneyland next year. I had two time periods that I was thinking of going: Mid-August or Mid-November (pre-Thanksgiving week). I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice as to which time they think would be better. I'm looking at getting an idea of crowd sizes, if one time is better than the other to try to avoid ride closures/maintainance, do i have a better chance of seeing the nighttime shows and fireworks for one time period vs the other or anything else you can tell me that might help me decide when to go. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Mid-August you would have a better chance of seeing the night-time shows, unless you're there on a weekend in November. Week-day hours in Nov are much shorter, but the crowds are much lighter so you're able to do as much if not more during a shorter period of time. DLR hasn't announced which rides will be closed for refurb next year.

DH and I prefer to travel off-season because it's cooler and crowds aren't as bad. Yes, it's a tradeoff because of refurbs, but we think it's worth it.

I have gone both times, yes the parks close earlier in November but it is less crowded. It is also decorated for Christmas, and it is just beautiful! Usually they have less refurbishments going on in November too

November, hands down, but include weekend time if at all possible (ie stay friday and saturday night or some variation )
