Given that VGC will have a much smaller 'home resort' membership, thought I'd try to find out what the busy DVC seasons might look like. If you plan on purchasing a VGC contract, what time of year do you think you are most likely to travel?
There will be 80 2BR units (studio/1BR), so the points available will be much smaller than any other DVC property. Those who purchased another DVC property via the DLR DVC sales office have the opportunity to become Founding Members with a 30-90 day advance purchase window. Then it may open up to the rest of DVC membership and then the general public. General opinion is that it won't make it to the general public, but due to the economy it's difficult to predict what will happen.
I picked Christmas and other holidays but I will be there much more than that. I most likely won't do summer or spring break. Otherwise, I'll be there at least once every season.
I picked Christmas and Spring (could sometimes include Spring Break but will often be Late April instead). As far as I know there will be 48 2 bedroom villas and 2 GV's.
I picked winter and fall due to lowest crowdes at the part, but I'm hearing Dec and Jan are getting busier every year... May want to try a holiday at Disneyland sometime in the future.
If we purchase, it will be to book the 1st weekend in Dec for the CP at the 11 month window. But instead of purchasing at GCV, we may continue to travel to WDW to enjoy the CP. It's sooooo nice to be able to book the dinner packages at WDW. Booking dinner packages at DL seems to be practically impossible. -- Suzanne

We might buy just enough to visit once every 3 years. The period I have my eye on now is early June right after our kids are out of school.
As for the poll, bear in mind that DVC's extremely heavy east-coast bias is sure to slant the results. Many VGC owners will be west-coasters and they are not very well represented within DVC right now.
I picked Fall (lower crowds September trips and Halloween season) and Christmas (right after Thanksgiving). But I'm hoping there will be availability for last minute trips throughout the year. I plan for shorter stays and more trips...if availability allows.
I picked summer but have 400 points and use them most of the time at DL since we are only 1 hr or so away. I am a SAHM and DH works out of the house and we are AP holders with no black out dates so we can go most anytime. So we will pick and choose weekends and weekdays as they are available.
We always stay at the GCH when we go so if the villas are all taken up I am still hoping to be able to stay in the other part of the hotel if the villas are all booked up
We are not planning on purchasing any points there. We will however be purchasing for Hawaii. If they close down the option for the studios in the main building and only give the villas out if you are a DVC member than I will be upset since they only have such a limited amount of villas.
I however dont think that will happen. I am also hoping that once the villas are there that the point value to stay in the main building drops since it is now a DVC property. One can only hope
