When will we know opening day?

I'm sure someone has prob already posted this but just in case they didn't....

After years of announcements and months of close anticipation, an official opening date for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (at least for Disneyland, possibly also for Disney World) will reportedly be released this Thursday, March 7th during the Walt Disney Company Annual Meeting of Shareholders at 11:00 AM EST.

I so hope they give some kind of timeline for WDW, even if like PP said it’s just a time frame (September/October).

Tomorrow should be DL for sure.

I think that is what will happen tomorrow for WDW. Just like they gave a June month for DL a while back tomorrow they will give an estimate month or months for WDW.

You think it'll be that early? I'm really hoping it opens after Thanksgiving since I have a trip planned then and want to avoid the chaos.

we shall see - scuttlebut is that things are progressing and testing well and seems like leaning more towards an earlier opening than maybe originally thought

I could see previews during November (after Halloween) and then full opening right after Thanksgiving ... almost see that as the latest option based on reading the tea leaves - plus, any later than that and they are really pushing opening right into the holiday crowds

If really progressing well I could see similar but a month earlier, so previews during October and then full opening shortly after Halloween to give a few weeks of operation before the Thanksgiving week crowds arrive

Hmm ideally for me it would open right after Thanksgiving. I might cancel my trip since I really don't want to deal with the crowds, right now we have the Yacht Club booked so we'd be right at the thick of it.

I am hoping (especially for people like you) that Disney does give a bit more color around the opening at WDW as well tomorrow ... even if not exact date would give you more knowledge if you need to move/cancel your trip or not

It sounds like they will be announcing something for WDW. Even if they give us a month that would definitely help. I just love going for Thanksgiving then I don't have to cook lol

Well considering the lands at DL and WDW are pretty much identical, they should have in their mind where they stand today.

They take where they are at now at WDW compare it to where they were at same time in DL and they could get a good ballpark date. Granted you still need some fudge time.

I bet this is what they did and why we are hearing rumors its moving quicker than planned and might be earlier opening.

The lands are identical, but the production/construction schedules were totally different. It's been discussed on the other SWGE threads that the different timelines have made it hard to gauge what will happen at WDW by comparing it with DL. Plus Cali doesn't have to deal with the same weather issues that can (and do) cause delays. Apples and Oranges.

I’m booked Oct 26- November 1st because I went with the “late fall” idea and now I’m re-evaluating things. If we have no plans to partake in the star wars madness would we still be ok or would you consider rescheduling?

Thanks I did not know that.

The wildcard down here in FL I see are Hurricanes. Typically Aug through the first 2 week of Oct is when we could see storms down here. So by Aug I think all of their heavy duty construction and use of tall cranes etc.... really has to be done with.

I am honestly not sure I just picked those months as an example! We have a trip planned in early December and are still undecided if we’ll be going or not.

Maybe. But possibly won't have an impact at all since as you mentioned, the major construction will be done by then.

California is seeing one of the wettest winters in recent history. It has rained every week for the past several in Anaheim. However, I still think they are on target with the opening they were aiming for.

They factor these kinds of weather delays into their calculations.

I'm so hoping for more info about the WDW opening date! Even just narrowing it down would help. We have an early November trip planned. I'm hoping SW:GE opens after that, but I'm getting more and more nervous that we'll be right near opening day.

I honestly don't know if we'll cancel or go. We wouldn't go with the kids after opening, but this will be our first adult-only trip. I don't think we can move the trip, so if it comes down to going at opening or canceling I just don't know...This may be our one and only chance to visit without the kids. (Sounds dramatic, but one of our kids has special needs and may not live independently. My parents are getting older, and if we wait a few years they may no longer be in a position to watch the kids for a long weekend.)

If you’ve done Spring Break with kids (which you’re signature says you have) you’ll be fine. Touring as two adults is so much easier. Yes all the parks will be more crowded but if you focus your time around the other three parks and are flexible I think you’ll still be able to have an amazing time.
