Any speculation or information about this? Also, are the prices usually lower if you buy before the resort is actually open?

Apparently the projected opening is fall 2011 though that has not been officially announced but they may be ahead of schedule and it may open a couple of months early. Other resorts have opened early but for cash only. If that's the case they should begin taking reservations somewhere around the first couple of months of 2011 and selling starting late this fall.

they are supposed to be opening a new DVC sell place in Japan this summer, I'm guessing that will be on the block then. I want to know the point charts soooooo bad so I can start figuring out how many I need to save!!

We talked to our guide last week and as with all the answers..he said they do not know when. I then asked well if you were a betting man..when do you think they will start selling Hawaii and he said late Sept/Oct. I also asked him if he saw any point charts for it and got the same answer that he did not know. He then said "I know if I was a betting man, around 400 points for a week." My jaw  hit the floor and he said he thinks it is going to be the highest point chart out there.:sad2: Again he does not know for sure and said he has not even seen or heard anything about the charts, but gave me a rough estimate as to what I need to save. I hope that helps in some way and I hope he is wrong on the number of points.

Hopefully not for a studio!! :scared1: We figured we would probably have to save all three years worth points to be able to go. :sad2:

400 is likely a little low for a 2 BR there depending on the view type and time of year. I'd venture 350-450 for much of the time there depending on view and maybe 500-600 for a 2 BR for the highest times of Xmas, NY, Easter, possibly mid summer.

I don't doubt this at all. With the new DVC sales center opening outside Tokyo Disney, many residents might be buying enough points for such a stay at Aulani. That many points could also be used for stays at VGC, effectively stretching out the value of the points they have. Another reason to expand in CA.

I don't see those as an attempt to excalate the points costs but rather as a difference of the relative demand of the given resorts, the same way I look at BLT. IMO the larger increase isn't going to be the points per week but the points per year. Compared to the Marriott's (which are Platinum or higher all year), I'd expect either Magic or higher only or a fairly short period of Dream season with most being Magic or Premier. It will be quite interesting to see where the DVC seasons end up at this resort.

They will start selling as soon as they can legally do so. Timeshare and Real Estate laws determine when and if they can pre-sell.

They cannot sell until the legalities are satisfied including whatever the HI laws are on C of O. However, even if the legalities are in place, they will time it likely to between 6 & 9 months from the time they know it will be ready to open to give themselves options.
