get some interior renovations? Seems to me it has been passed over while the Poly and CR have gotten several.

Anyone else think WL is ready for an update?

I honestly do not think the WL is in need of any renovation. Do you mean the rooms? Cuz to me, the lobby is still spectacular. I have eard some people complain about some rooms being a bit dingy, but I have not come across those rooms. I think because the WL is so "rustic" it can stand a little more wear and tear than, say, the Contemporary.

I don't think it does either. Maybe little touches here & there, but no renovation.

I've read that they renovate resorts every 10 years. I think WL opened in 1994. Has it ever been renovated before? When we stayed there last January we thought it was fine.

I agree with other posters, WL is fine. When we were there in August of "04" it looked fine to us. It's not that old, and as said before it's got a rustic look to it.

The last room we had at WL needed a some new wallpaper in the bathroom and the countertop was stained, so it could have used a little refurbishment, but the resort itself doesn't need any updating from what I've seen. They could maybe just replace a few things in the rooms that are worn.

I too was there in August, during Hurricane Charley. The resort was awesome, but our room was in need of some little fixes. Wallpaper and border in the bathroom, wobbly furniture, etc...

We loved it there, though.

They do soft rehabs every 5 years, that include new beddings etc. Some times they change the decor, but many times they will keep the same decor just get new ones.

I think that WL is absoluetly wonderfull however I havent stayed there yet (I am in December). Externally it's magnificant and the lobby is spectacular :)

The outside has had a refurbishing and the lobby is still beautiful as well. The public restroom, esp. the one near Roaring Forks, could use some work. I have stayed in 2 separate rooms where the wall hangings actually had bugs between the picture and and the glass. I do not believe the WL rooms were given their 10 update which I do believe they need.

I'm not sure a bug or two in the pictures would necessarily sound the alarm for a full scale resort renovation. Maybe just removing the bugs from the picture frames would suffice.

I definately think WL rooms need a make over. I didn't realize how badly until I first stayed at AKL.....they need a make over they seem so dingy!

I totally agree, stayed 7 nights at AKL, went to WL for 2 absolutely loved
the outside and lobby, but walked in our room and went yuck!!! Walls were
scuffed everywhere, carpet torn, walllpaper falling off and even had a few cracked tiles in the bathroom. I would be dissapointed even if this was a
Holiday Inn, but really not happy with the price I paid and it being Wilderness
Lodge. We were only in the rooms to sleep, so we just made sure to enjoy the lobby resteraunts, and outdoor surroundings which were beautiful, if only the rooms were up to par with the rest of the resort. Until then will stick with
AKL.

We love the WL, too. One thing it could definitely use is new carpeting in the hallways--especially the first floor. My wife pointed out during our trip in Oct that we never noticed the bear in the carpet pattern until we were in an area where the carpet wasn't nearly so worn.

While WL is our FAVORITE resort (so beautiful) . . . I'd have to agree they need some updating, minor repairs, etc. When we were there the carpet was pretty worn in seveal spots (hallways especially), wall paper was peeling in several spots, several scuff marks on the walls, etc. Nothing that would prohibit me from staying there as we love the WL. But we did notice some things seemed a bit "rough".

Stayed at WL last year. While very impressed with hotel in general, I felt like the rooms were average. But I didn't really care because I was only in it to sleep and shower. As long as it was clean, and it was. Would definitely stay there again.
