We will be at Disney Nov 7th-14th and was just wondering if we will be there for the Christmas Parade taping. Has anyone ever been to it? Any details would be great!!

Normally, it's the first weekend in December. Last year was the first time it was in November, so it's hard to say if November is the new norm or it'll go back to December.

We were in MK during one of the taping days last year. If you're expecting to sit and watch the parade as it airs on television, you'll be disappointed.

The film in segments, with only one float/section out a time. They tape, and retape, the same one several times, then clear the street. They then bring out the next section, and do it over. It lasts several hours. It's only on main street.

There will be lots of people along main street, many in festive costumes hoping to be filmed.

The rest of MK will be business as usual.

It is normally taped in December, keep in mind that if you attend you will be standing for long periods of time in a single spot and as mentioned by PP some parts of the parade are shot in segments and celebrities perform on different floats and sometimes stages in different areas. I am sure its an incredible experience and if you have more than one park day at MK during your vacation and don't mind what I mentioned above then I say go for it, however, if you only have one park day at MK I would recommend going on a different day when the parade is not being taped so you can actually enjoy the park.

The taping last year was over 4 days, with the parade being one of those days. The rest are castle shows, etc. They really didn't announce in advance which of the 4 days would be the actual parade, so it's hard to plan. I've been there in the past, I didn't think it was a big deal. The last time I was there some cm's came up to us in Tomorrowland and asked if we wanted to be in the crowd for the Jonas Brothers in front of the castle. Being 2 fifty year old women, we were not going to swoon over them but thought what the heck, let's go. It took awhile to start, the sun had to be just right. We saw them come out and then slipped out of the crowd to go about our business.

So it is super busy that day(s) they are taping? On tv it just looks so much fun!! What about the stage shows? Do they hand pick people to go or do you stand in line?

Main Street and the Hub will be the busiest sections. Possibly also Frontierland if they decide to tape parade portions there as they did in 2014.

Disney brings in actors and CMs to line and fill the taping areas. Guests can fill in behind them. If you are dressed in Christmas colors, you have a good chance of being placed in front of the Castle stage.

It really is a long process. My CM friend was on a float for taping in November and the float was out on Main Street for over an hour before the tv crews shot the scene in one take.
