We went thru the DVC presentation last week. The person doing the presenting said that HH was close to being sold out and would be sold out in a month or so. Is this true? I was thinking about making HH our home resort as we only live 5 hours from there and I could see us using that resort more than we would the WDW resorts.

I know it is near sell out. I believe that there are certain use years that are no longer available. They have been saying that "HH will sell out this spring" for the last four years. Hile they missed spring, I think it is real close now.

We own at HH and are from Raleigh, NC. We make at least 1 to 2 trips to HH each year. We absolutely love the resort and the island. It's close enough to Savannah and Charleston to ensure a well-rounded vacation. If you plan on going there during the summer months then buy your points there as you will need the 11 month window for booking . If you plan on going off-season then the resort always seems to have availability.

P.S. We just added more pts. to our HH contract but had to be waitlisted because our use year was sold out.

I'd reconsider buying HH unless you want to go there in summer most years and have little desire for WDW. If you're set on buying HH, better either get busy or else look for a resale. I'd look for a resale as HH is the cheapest, along with VB and OKW close behind. DVC likely has a few points left at HH so call them ASAP if you really want to do this through DVC. Good luck.

I was at HH about two weeks ago and talked with someone in the office who seemed to know the status of the resort. I said that I heard it was sold out and she told me by September. There are a couple of months for new members, but I also had to be waitlisted for an add-on. We love the resort and live about 85 miles from HH. We were able to checkin early and use the pool and beach house until the room was ready. Then we used the pool on checkout day until 4 before checking into another timeshare. I was in a studio and checked into a 2 bedroom at another resort. I should have done it the opposite way. I really missed Disney. It is not the room, but the experience. I have stayed in just about every resort at HH and none compares to Disney. Marriott's Barony and Grande Ocean come close, but still not the same. I guess I am just spoiled by the Disney experience.

We own 400 points.
210 at HH, 50 at Vero, and 140 at OKW!
however the points that we keep borrowing are HH.
I keep saying we need to skip HH one year but husband and son say no way!
Buy where your family enjoys vacationing!

If you like HH, you will need the 11 month booking advantage to get June - August. If you will be vacationing at other times of the year (fall through spring), you could probably get your request at the seven month window. Also, we have added on several times at HH in order to have enough points for a five nights in a 2br during the summer. I think I could suffer through a vacation there every summer. :D If you have kids, I would recommend buying enough points for a 2 br unit. HH has mostly 2brs and a few studios/1 brs/GVs. Also, there are no 1 br units close to the pool area. They are mostly in the lodge. 150 points can go a long way at HH especially in the off season. Good Luck with your decision.

We were able to book our first trip to HH at the 7 month window last July. We called first thing in the morning at the 7 month mark until our reservation was complete. We spent a wonderful week in a 2 bedroom unit. We had no problem working within the 7 month window but have since added on at HH because we are planning on spending a week there each summer. I can't imagine living close enough to make it a more than once a year trip. I envy how close you are -- but then again, we'd problem need more points! We'll be there in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!!

The sales building at shelter cove was being renovated for Marriott I believe. The sales staff have been shipped back to orlando. A resort empoylee now double duties as the on site person and front desk. We stayed in the GV that they used to have the open house in.

I was at HH last Labor Day and one CM commented on a member who joined just to bring his son for a few days when he has weekend visitation. The CM explained he would come down early on the day of check-in and use the resort and that gave me the idea of adding on and taking advantage of this. My kids love the slide and even though we can go to my mom's oceanfront home at Edisto Beach near Charleston, we still love our DVC. Being as close as we are to HH, we can go down and shop at the outlets for the day and return home. We usually go to HH about three or four times a year, not always DVC although we'd rather be there. I have cheaper ts I also use. If you ever come to HH, come see us. Directions and info can be found at www.broxtonbridge.com
