I have booked that far out in the past but I wasn't guarateed the rate. At some point I received an update ressie form with the real rate when it came out.
If you get a cast member who tells you that this can't be done, try try again!
Like Samantha said - Disney will take reservations up to 10 years in advance. (I believe it's 10 years)
They will charge you a deposit equal to the current room rates. All that does is save you the room. It does NOT lock in the rate. When the rates are released for the year you want to go, they will update you and charge you the difference (if there is any) between the rate you originally paid, and the actual rate.
I haven't heard that this policy has been discontinued, so I would try again.
