When will crowds be lowest in late April or sometime in May

WE went last May and the crowds were awful, a lot of students where there for some kind for school thing. This made the lines for the roller coaters 1 1/2 hours long, for most of them. We are planning a trip and trying to decide which week would be best as far as weather warm enough to swim (water Parks) and not a million students making park super busy. Any hep would be appreciated. This will be our second trip to Universal, the first was no fun at all, really trying to get all the info I can to try and make this trip a GREAT one!! Many Thanks

It will be someone's school vacation week from mid February through the end of April. I live in NH and ours are the last week of February and the last week of April. I think that VT has the same weeks we do. MA and ME have the third week in February and the third week of April.

We go the beginning of May (first week/early second week), and have not had a problem with crowds. Most of the FL kids get out of school mid-late May, hence an increase in crowds. I'd avoid Memorial Day, but that's just me.

Spring break is the first two weeks of April. After that crowds should drop off.
Most will tell you to stay onsite. The RPR has the lowest prices, and if you use the AAA code that will help. If you can't stay onsite, then you show up early at 8am and get into the park when they open. This plan works any day of the year, as the herd of people arrives at 11am.
Same thing if you visit a water park like Wet N' Wild. Be there when they open and do the major slides first.

For the onsite hotels, the pools are heated. I was just at the HRH last weekend. It was 45 degrees outside, yet the water was warm and a kid was in the hot tub.
