Does anyone know when in summer of 2012 will Carsland be open. Planning our first trip (and probably only) to Disneyland and would love to go when its open?

No, nobody knows anything more than next summer.

Plan for later than sooner if you want to be there when it is open.

Ski is quite right. There are rumors about it opening in June 2012. Disney tries very hard to get new things open before summer so June is highly likely.

There is a rumor that it will be June, but late June: June 28 I believe. If that rumor is true, they re also thinking about closing the park for a day before the new grand opening, which will mean you will probably have several months warning. -- Suzanne

I understand that Buena Vista Street is the real issue and Cars Land is running ahead of schedule. So if the question is Cars Land (as in the OP) it might be late June or might be earlier. BVS may be what strings it out to late June. But we are still too far away for probably even Disney to know.

Why would they close all of DCA for a whole day? When Disneyland is getting ready for a premiere of a movie, they close off sections, but not the whole park.

Our trip is early June. We made it assuming it'd be closed for our trip. Our hopes are that people are saving their trips til later HAHA. But really, it was the best time for us to go. DS just BARELY expressed interest in carsland dangit. Shouldn't have let him see cars2 lol

Rumor is that it'll be a grand re-opening. It's more than just the one land opening.

When Disneyland was getting ready to launch its 50th anniversary celebration in May 2005 they closed it for a day. I had not heard of the potential for DCA closure but could see how it might happen that way.

The rumor about closing DCA for a day has been spread by <drum roll, please> Al Lutz.

Here's the quote:
"When DCA is finally done and ready to star at its debutante ball, TDA wants to make sure everyone living west of the Rockies and around the Pacific Rim countries knows about it. ...

Under serious consideration at this time is a plan to mount a multi-day media event that begins by shutting down DCA entirely for a day to “set the stage” and build excitement, much like Disneyland was shut down to the general public on May 4th 2005, the day before the 50th celebration began.

... The grand reopening of DCA next June is being planned to be something that is talked about for years, and since Burbank wants to see its investment pay off they are encouraging TDA to think as big as they can."

Keep in mind updates only get posted when there is something to report on, and not before. It takes time to confirm things, and even then we can only offer a snapshot of a continually evolving story. (People do change their minds you know.) Just like the happiest place on earth, patience is a virtue; the queue may take a while before you can enjoy the attraction.
