When will BC/BWV/WL get with the 21st century?

Count me in with those who feel that a flat screen television is extremely low on any upgrade list for the resorts. If they get them, fine. If not, and the current TV's work, then what is the big deal?

I agree that they'll have to replace the televisions eventually. At that time, I'm fine with my dues paying for a replacement. Until then, mark me in the column that says "not willing to pay additional for flat screen".

I'm with DISNEY FIX....converting the sleeper/sofas to the new style is a much greater priority that would benefit many more members.

I would definately agree with converting every sleeper sofa at DVC to the new type before any flat screen tv or wireless internet. Better sleep comes first in my book(unless some of you will trade me a flat screen for a day with my cranky sister or my 6 yr old who slept on the sofabed.).

Which resorts don't have a new style now. OKW and BCV do, right? Surely AKV does.

How about SSR, BWV and VWL?

HH and VB?

I know the 2br at SSR(Congress Park,#2710, 11/06) we were in had the nasty old ones. I didn't check the one at VWL. I would assume that the Grandstand units at SSR have the new ones.

I don't care about the tv at all- they could take it out of the room completely and I probably wouldn't miss it at all. The only thing we ever turn it on to see is the weather report for the day.

Interesting. The studio we had in Congress Park in 2006 had one of the new style sofas. It was my understanding that when SSR opened they put the new style sofa beds in and that they were the FIRST resort to have them.

It was one of those with the bar, I'll give you my sister's number and she can confirm(we moved my youngest to it after the first night). I yanked it out and it didn't look anything like the pictures of the ones I have seen from BCV.

Flat screens would be nice but I am fine with older ones. We only watch TV right before bed for weather. :)

When it's the normal time for replacement, by all means go flat screen.
IMO it doesn't make sense to get rid of the current TVs simply because a newer one is on the market. :smokin:

Interesting. I slept on the one at SSR in March 2006 so I can vouch directly that it had no bar and folded out different than any sofa bed I had ever been on. So, perhaps there is a mix.

No need to change tvs now. I am sure they will be installed when replacement time comes around. I only care that the screen is big enough to see. SSR tvs are good, but the one in the master bedroom at OKW was a lot smaller. Not even sure if it was 19".

I am more interested in money being spent to keep the rooms clean and repaired than the type of TV.

When they need to replace TVs if they replace them with flatscreens that's fine. By that time that's likely to be the only type of TV on the market - tubes are going the way of the dodo. But I don't see any reason to do it right now.

Some of the hotels I've been in have flat screens inside their old tube TV amoire with the flat screen on a stand - you wouldn't need to replace the furniture.

The resorts that the OP listed AKV , Contemp and Poly JUST got these flat screen tv's. It has been stated that Boardwalk would be getting them at some time but it would take time to replace them.

They started already with the public tv's i.e. Leaping Horse Libations changed from a tube tv to a flat screen's last summer.

I would hope some day soon as they need to replace a tv in a room, it would be a flat screen .

The rooms have TVs? I guess flat screens would be a very low priority for my family.

I don't go to WDW to watch Tv either, but I think the "overall concept" of the villa would look nicer with a flat screen. On the same (or different) subject, the same could be said for GRANITE or NICER countertops!! The ones at AKL and SSR look MUCH nicer than BWV!! OUCH, talk about dues going up!!

I think 'newer' countertops will be sooner than later.....

Does anyone know how the Feb 2009 FCC deadline for going all digital (doing away with analog TV signals) will affect all this?

I realize the hotel/resort signal distribution systems are very different from a home setup but would have to guess that the majority of CRT TVs in the rooms lack digital tuners, especially if they are more than a few years old.

The new TVs are nice but getting rid of the armoire REALLY opens up the room which is a bigger plus to me.

I am not willing to pay for it.... So I will just vote for waiting until it's time for the normal replacement. I don't really need to what Stacy in HDTV!

I was about to vote NO, but when you mentioned stacy it made me rethink my answer.

I guess I would still have to vote no, as the wife hates stacy and thus I have to hate stacy by default.

p.s. [wife not in the room] ...I would vote for HD stacy if I was allowed too.
