I know I've seen this but search is not working for me today. When will AKV be ready for guests and how many units? I guess I am mainly concerned with the new buildings as the lodge will not have many units (although I could be remembering wrong). Thank you!

Some of the existing lodge rooms will be ready around Sept - Oct '07 (depending on who you listen to). I'm thinking Sept, since that's the 1st UY available for purchase to the public. The rest are supposed to be ready by spring of '08.

The new building is supposed to be done by sometime in '09. The question is (and nobody knows the answer) if they'll open the new building in phases. The rumor is they will, with the first phase coming online sometime in '08.

We are staying at AKL in March and received a letter last week asking to be patient with construction for the VC and that we may see construction equipment during the day time hours. I thought I read August 07 construction was starting. I really hope it does not alter the savannah view we are paying for!?!?!?!?!?!??!

looks like July, 2007
Sept, 2007
Dec, 2007

then the new resort will be ready May, 2008. that is not alot of time to put up such a big place.

Hey, Pat, what are those 3 months? I thought the present building was going to be ready September 1, 2007 (but of course, I could have just grabbed on to that date when I heard it, and things have changed). I've been all set to dial for my one night there September 7th. I've even got my airplane ressies already. Of course, I'm just assuming there'll be a studio waiting for me:rotfl:-if not, know any comfortable park benches?

I'm with you Simba's Mom--
I'm holding off making a reservation for the first night of our trip (Sept 25).
Hope I'm not left on a park bench either!

read the map - those are the finish days for construction - besides DVC is always ready early. now not expecting July - because they will need to do the inside stuff and furnishing - but definitely by August. they should be ready.

doesn't mean you can make a reservation then. they generally let CM test the place before they let in guests.

the last I heard since you are a member of AKV you could make reservations in May - for Sept...

We just got back from SSR today. The Grand Stand section opens next week, the first building that is. Anyway, the building was full with "testers" staying in the building. No DVC or paying guests. That is what DVC will do at AKVs also. The want real people using the rooms, finding all the flaws before turning them over to paying guests and DVC members.

DVC has announced Sept, 2007. I don't ever recall them missing a deadline like this for DVC though many of the resorts have opened early to cash guests only.

Hmm,.....tester. Where do I apply for that job?

I know one of the bus drivers we had was a tester. Him and his wife got to stay for a week free. The only stipulation was they had to give feedback on the room during thier stay.

tomandrobin, Is the grandstand pool open yet?

Yes! We walked over to the new pool. Everything was running, the towel carts were open with towels for the guests to use. The pool is nice, its smaller then the feature pool, but larger then the Congress Park pool. There is a kids water feature area that has watter jets in the ground and in a race track starting gate. There are also five "horse head" sprayers that can turn and pivot. We thought it was nice. There is a real nice barbecue (sp) pavillion right outside the pool with two grills and two tables. I thought that was real convient.

We went to the Congress Park pool and the main pool. Its so nice to have the option of multiple pools. For the most part, the kids were at the main pool and the Congress Park pool was all adult (about 25-30 people). If you want to layout or swim in a quieter enviroment, you have an option!

Thanks...we have stayed in the Springs, CP and the Paddocks and have enjoyed them all. This April trip includes my DS and her family, our family and our Parents. I'd love to give the Grandstand a try.

Dean is right too.

if it opens early expect it to only have cash guests. but I am hopping for the great discounts we got on VWL. don't remember BCV having those great discounts? didn't even ask for SSR.

like it was $59 for a studio.::yes:: but trying to remember I think you needed to complete a survey for that price? don't really remember.:scratchin

I wouldn't mind being a tester either but my luck would be like some of the cruise testers where they didn't leave port and had to haul off debris.

Pat/Spiceycat & Dean -- seeing you both posting here reminded me of something. Didn't the two of you have some kind of bet about AKV? I can't remember what it was, but I remember you have a dinner riding on it. What was the bet and has a winner been declared?

With the Search function not working, I couldn't find it and I've looked several times. If I recall correctly the bet was if points were higher Spiceycat won, if they were the same, I won. If the categories were so different, no one was the winner. I don't recall if we addressed if they were lower. I suspect based on what I recall of the wording, the bets off due to the categories being different but in principle, I believe I was correct as the points are not really higher for AKV.

in one case they were lower, in another case they were higher.

I think that means a draw.

Anyway Dean wrote me - and claimed victory - but say I didn't have to pay for his lunch.

you have a good memory!!!!:thumbsup2
