When will '09 dates be released?

Ok now, let me do a quick summary of the rumored itineraries and their sources. ;)

Northern Europe - recent Med cruisers/ Capt.
Alaska - Dis Podcast
Caribbean - recent Magic cruisers/ onboard rebooking agent/ popular DCL specialist TA
Europe - AAA agent

Now we must paitently (or anxiously) :lmao: wait for DCL to announce 2009 itineraries.

I think AAA and thie first one are one and the same but a good summary and that seems to be the 'focus' for summer 2009.

I just spoke to my AAA agent - just 20 minutes ago.

ME - "I've heard rumors of Disney doing Alaskan cruise in 2009."
AAA - "No, we haven't heard about that." "We've heard rumors of Europe"
ME - "really?" "I knew the Med Cruises were popular, but not that popular"
AAA - "Oh, yea. No one that asked for reservations from our office in town got on the med Cruises, or the Mexican Riviera cruises."
ME - "You're kidding. Noone?"

Well, I wouldn't book through them then!!:confused3

Seriously!!:sad2:
As far as what we said about Freeport. We had friends that docked there once and told us to steer clear of it at all cost. They absolutely hated that place.:scared:
I guess I will continue to stay glued to the boards for news on the '09 sailings.:surfweb: Still hoping for Alaska :wizard: but wouldn't be too dissapointed in Northern Europe. We love Europe.

Pity about Freeport.

I know, I know.......I don't even need specific dates or pricing yet. I just want to know the itineraries of the two ships.

Can't DCL even give out generalities? Because the 2009 itineraries could impact what you do in 2008!!!!

Each year we 'expect' DCL to announce them earlier and earlier, threads here as far back as August were far too early.

We have herd that DCL plan to release dates 'Early' December.

Some posts say they will be ALL the trips for 2008, but on past perform ace they released in stages with the STANDARD cruises for 3/4 nights on the Wonder and standard seven night cruises coming first and for the first part of the year only, say to April.

The earliest (so far) special summer cruises have Been released were January 31st this year for summer 2008, before those dated were in April for the med and MAY 2004 for summer 2005.

Releasing in stages takes pressure off the reservations system by Phone, or on line or T/as, now I would have thought DCL would have learnt their lessons from past releases and do it in stages over many days.

Now the first part of 2009 for standard cruises is behind as of now, causing a bit more of a void and a question why/ one answer maybe is their discussions with Port Canaveral and the possible switch to Miami, or Tampa.

That would explain why Standard cruises are delayed whilst negotiations continue .

I was thinking the same thing.....we've got more plot twists here than a political novel.

I am not even especially interested in after April. I am looking for March 14 or so for our spring break, I assume it will be a standard 7 nighter, come on Disney!! I think someone had posted that they booked their 2008 spring break on Oct. 19 2006, so that shows us they are delayed. Good thinking about the different ports in question.
For now, I sit and wait...

Freeport was not a pretty place. Where we docked, was like a ship graveyard. There was even a big red boat there. Not pretty. Smelly cabs to the beach or any kind of shopping. I would not go there again.

no, 2008 dates up until May (repo cruise) were announced November 1, 2006. I know because that's the day we booked our April cruise and I was soooo excited the night before, I could not sleep! :rotfl:

They do not inspire you with total confidence do they?:rotfl2:

LOL. We booked our first cruise through AAA, and all ther rest we've rebooked while onboard, and Disney would pass the ressie off to AAA. So, really AAA has nothing to do for us except take our money, pay Disney, give us an extra $50 room credit and that's it.

Our AAA agent tried to tell us that the only people from our town that got ressies for the Med and first Mex Riviera cruise were those that booked onoboard. Also anyone from town that tried to call Disney or have AAA book it for them didn't get a ressie. I find it hard to believe, because 1-2 months before the Med cruises I got quotes right off the Disney site and had a room picked, but didn't complete the search/ressie.

Also, if the '09 dates/inteneraries are released on 1st week of Dec, then we'll be onboard and rebooking anyway, so we'll be able to get something no matter what even before AAA can call us about them.

We will be onboard too. Our TA already has our preferences and faxed our suite request into IC about a year ago.

We are already looking to book either RCCL's new Independence of the Seas or the new Celebrity Solstice for spring break of 2009 but if Disney announces a new "cool" ;) itinerary we would probably book it instead.

Thank you for that, Nov 1st would be nice.

There was limited availabilty for Med cruises until they started so they could have booked it, we had people joining our thread in the last couple of months who booked late.

I totally agree. I hate being in limbo, but of course I am more curious about the 2010 summer itinerary, so I have alot of waiting to do....LOL

The last 2 years, 2005 and 2006 I have sailed the Magic in the end of November, and both times the January - April itineraries were out by the time we cruised (rebooking purposes). I do remember last year they were released the very beginning of November even though DCL was saying beginning of December, so it should be soon! :goodvibes

Lets hope so, they seem to like giving out some miss information, or the staff fill in the 'void' and say Early December.

As another thread on this has opened up, to make this easy to find bumping it up.

Also asking anyone leaving the MAGIC today, do you have any more news.

On another THREAD.

Sheer speculation - but a friend of a friend says that she heard DCL was thinking about adding Bermuda as an itinerary... but not whether that was before or after the new ships.

Made me start thinking that the "DCL will be staying closer to home in 2009" might just refer to Bermuda...

I mean, the fact that they won't necessarily sell out the Caribbean in summer so would look for something 'special' which they know would sell out, plus the 'staying closer to home' statements makes Bermuda look like a good possible 'special' itinerary. It's 900 miles from Castaway Cay - but it's still a heckuva lot closer than LA/Mexico, Med, or Alaska.

Just something else to throw out there into the 'Where are they going 2009' lottery.

I hadn't seen anyone else mention it - so I thought I'd bring it up.

:confused3

This has been mentioned before, but reinforces the comments made by a lwading T/A saying 'closer to home'
