When will '09 dates be released?

Wow!! Alaska would be awesome. :cool1: But I think I would pass on Alaska if a Trans-Pacific to Hong Kong is in the works.

I totally agree!

I honestly do not think the new Hawaii resort will be done by then. I thought it was slated to open in 2011, and the transatlantic to Hong Kong would be 2010?
I have always wanted to go to Hong kong, and it sounds like 2010 will be my year!!! Unfortunately will have to skip the Alaska cruise since we will be spending a fortune on the PC in 2008.

I'm actually glad we're hearing rumors for multiple years because it allows us to better plan how we want to spend our $$$$ on the special cruises.

We would be very interested in Asia in 2010 but our original plan is to spend more $$$ in 2009 because its a big anniversary year for us. Its one of the reasons we passed on the PC cruise in 2008.

Ahh.......decisions, decisions.

I know! I would hate to go on one, and then miss out on one I would have wanted to go on more but couldn't because I already spent my money and did not know what was coming. I am very happy to maybe plan ahead! :thumbsup2

My problem is, I know DH will want Alaska, and I will want the transatlantic Hong Kong one. This will be interesting! LOL

I wonder if DCL will see people cancel their 2008 bookings. I know people booked the CA cruises because they wanted to do a 7-night cruise and they did not want to go on the Wonder because they don't like Nassau. Also people booked back-to-back Wonder cruises next summer as a way to get a 7-night cruise in the Caribbean.

It will be interesting.

It's a big wedding anniversary for us too so I am really watching this develop.

Do any Alaskan cruises depart from LA or do they all leave from either Seattle or Vancouver??? Trying to figure what port DCL may use a departure point if they do indeed do Alaska in '09. I wonder if it would be a 7 day or 10 day itinerary.

There were articles in the Orlando newspaper last week about different ports vying for DCL business and one of the ones mentioned was the port of Seattle.

This would go along with the Alsaska rumor for next year. Making thr trip from the Port of Los Angeles would require longer cruises. The port of Seattle would allow for 7 day sailings.

Kevin...really enjoyed the PodCast this morning....it was the first one I listened to and will be listening more in the future!!! Very imformative!!!

Thank you!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the show.

C'mon over to the DIS Unplugged board for other "show" discussions.

Kevin

Interesting listening now:-

So its:-

the rumors sound exciting for the summer of 2009 (Alaska) and summer of 2010 (Trans-Pacific to Hong Kong)..........

Also during summer of 2009 and 2010 the Wonder will be doing 3,4 and 7 night cruises..........

Part 2 Wonder is very logical.

Alaska, will think about it.

Just listened to the podcast (thanks Verandahman for telling exactly how far into the broadcast the DCL part is).....

Loved the part that DCL is hearing the complaints of having no 7-night summer Caribbean cruises and is doing something about it. I certainly was one who complained LOUDLY on my Wonder cruise last month about that.

What struck me is the "rumor" that the Wonder CMs are being trained to do a 7-night sailing. That is a pretty solid lead and I don't think anyone would mention it if it wasn't true.

Which leads to where the Magic is heading and I certainly got the impression that we should start making space in the luggage for a light jacket for Alaska cruises and saving up the pennies for the flight back from Hong Kong.

Loved the comment that if DCL builds a third new ship that it should be called the "DIS".

Book us on one of those Wonder 7-night cruises in the summer of 2009. I don't care where.....eastern/western/southern.....just so happy we have a choice besides Nassau!!!!!

And I'm delighted for the Wonder's crew.....they have a great bunch of CMs and I look forward to being on a longer cruise with them.

Okay, so here is a thought that just crossed my mind....all of us that rebooked on board on the Magic waiting for 2009 dates to come out........do you suppose it'll be a problem with our discount and on-board credit if we switch over to the Wonder?:confused3 I sure as heck hope not!!!

Interesting question - we are in the same "boat"

Just called DCL to get the answer! As long as we're still doing a 7 nt we're fine since that is how we were originally booked. So in other words, if we moved to a 3 or 4 night, credit and discount would no longer apply!

I think the CM misspoke. When we were on the Med cruise I rebooked for a 4 night in 2008. I specifically booked the 4-nt because of the smaller deposit. We decided to cruise again this year, and switched o a 7 nt on the Magic. I still got the discount and a $200 onboard credit. Then when we moved to a suite, we lost the discount but still have the OBC.

If you go from a 7 nt to a 3 or 4 nt you should still get the discount, but the amount of the onboard credit would go down.

It shouldn't be a problem. I assume you booked a "dummy" date in December 2008 for the Magic to switch to 2009? That's what we did while we were on the Wonder last month.

I think so long as you booked a 7-night sailing then you keep the discount and the OBC because you're switching one 7-night reservation for another.

Now we really, really want to know when the dates will be released.

I would not even consider doing a 3 or 4 night anyway. By the time I get air fare, time off work etc....3/4 nt is WAY too short!

Yes, we have a dummy date booked. Booked in 7/06 for 12/07 and now have had to move it to 12/08..........waiting for 2009 is making me insane!
