Ongoing: Learn how to play Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in the country, with daily clinics and round robins at the Palmetto Dunes Pickleball Center in Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. November: 1,8,15,22,29: Get out with a docent from the Coastal Discovery Museum on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. to see the Forts of Port Royal - the sites where it all happened, from early explorers through the Civil War and beyond, explore Mitchelville, Fort Walke, and the Steam Cannon. Please, no children under 7 years of age. Forts of Port Royal meets at the Port Royal Golf Clubhouse and is $12 for adults, $7 for children (ages 7-12 only) and reservations are required by calling (843) 384-0959 or going online to coastaldiscovery.org

November 1,9,15,29: The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Birding at Pinckney Island, a bird watching program led by experienced bird watchers from the museum, on select days at 7:30 a.m. The walk will include the combination of habitats at Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge. These varying areas allow participants to see many different species of birds. Several species of shore birds can usually be seen in the mud flats in the salt marsh, while many species of wading birds could potentially be seen around the marsh and fresh water lagoons. Depending on the season, diverse birds can be spotted: Summer Tanager, Eastern Kingbird, Painted Bunting, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Egrets, Herons and many, many others. The outing is from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and space is limited (ages 12 and older). Participants are asked to bring their own binoculars and the program will be canceled in case of rain. The program is $12 per person and reservations are required by calling (843) 689-6767 ext. 223 or online at coastaldiscovery.org.

November 1- 10: "Crescendo - Celebrating Arts, Culture and History: The Heart and Soul of the Lowcountry" sponsored by the Arts and Cultural Council of Hilton Head at various locations. A regional event organized in honor of National Arts & Humanities month showcasing the vast array of arts, artists, authors, culture and history organizations. OnGoing: Alligator & Wildlife Boat Tour with H2O Sports in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Get an up-close view of indigenous plant and animal life, including the American alligator, on a one-hour guided boat tour. Reservations are required, call (843) 671-4386 or visit h2osports.com.

November 1,8,15,22,29: Go on a guided exploration of the Coastal Discovery Museum grounds and its seasonal highlights on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. This tour will take you onto the board walks to explore the salt marsh and the many creatures that live there. You will visit the Karen Wertheimer Butterfly Habitat (seasonal), a carnivorous plant garden and the Heritage and camellia gardens (seasonal) to view some of the most relevant plants that have been used by Lowcountry inhabitants through time. Monday - Saturday: Available in the bar only between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., enjoy a tasting of three tasty small plates paired with three premium wines. November 3: Enjoy Free Family Fun Night at The Sandbox the First Friday of the month With fun games and activities, special arts and crafts plus light refreshments for dinner, this fun night designed to bring families together isn't to be missed!

November 5: See a jazz performance the first Sunday of each month at the world-class Harbour Town Clubhouse 5-7 p.m.! November 10 -11: Get ready to shuck and slurp at the Oyster Festival, Nov. 10-11, 2017 at Shelter Cove Community Park. Then come again on Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. for more live entertainment, a kid zone, holiday craft show, marshmallow roasting and Sports Lounge for those fall football games! November 12: Ailey II Dance Company is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country's best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today's most outstanding emerging choreographers. Dance Magazine calls Ailey II "second to none," and The New York Times declares, "There's nothing like an evening spent with Ailey II, the younger version of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater." November 14: join Robert Mondavi Jr. for a wine dinner at the Heritage Room located at the Harbour Town Clubhouse Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. A fourth generation Napa Valley winemaker, Rob Mondavi Jr.'s immersion in wine began more than 30 years ago. November 17: From seafood to southern dishes to barbecue and desserts, there's something to please every palate at Taste of the Season. Sample the very best of what Hilton Head Island and Bluffton restaurants have to offer. This year's annual Lowcountry celebration of local cuisine will be under the stars, tented on the green of just-expanded driving range of the Country Club of Hilton Head. November 18: The Italian-American Club of Hilton Head Island will fight to break the Guinness World Record for The World's Largest Meatball at Shelter Cove Community Park. The current record holder weighed in at a hefty 1,110 lbs, 7.84 oz! This one-day event on Hilton Head Island will blast off with THE MEATBALL RUN, a 5K race culminating at Shelter Cove Community Park, the location for the Meatball Madness Fest. Guests are invited to attend the BRAWL OF THE BALLS, a competition for local restaurants and organizations to battle to be titled the area's Best Meatball in 3 distinct categories. Lastly, for those who are willing to put their speed-eating skills to the test, we will have a fierce MEATBALL EATING CONTEST. November 19: Pedal Hilton Head Island, the largest bike event in the Lowcountry, returns this year with a completely transformed event that will take riders for the first time all the way around the Island and beyond.
