Is there something with a list of all the shows, and where the characters will be and at what time?

Yes you can pick up a times guide as you enter the parks. It will list show times, attraction times, charecter greetings, etc. They do no list everything but it's a pretty good start. If you want to see the info beforehand you can check out Steve Soares WDW Entertainment site, he updates it weekly with the info from the times guide.

Here is what the Times Guide and New Information sheets look like.

There is also info on the back of the sheet for Character greetings and show times.

They also print Times Guides for Extra Magic Hours.

is the one I look at ahead of time. For locations, the following link is a great site that's maintained by someone that frequents these boards. From what I can see it is well maintained. The park maps with character locations seems to be what you're looking for.

As mentioned above time are for major character meet and greets. Places like the Animation Courtyard will have a variety of characters.
