So we're planning to take DME from the airport to the resort. We're hoping to take an early flight, hopefully have a lot of the day to spend at WDW. I'm guessing when we check in (noon-ish?) that our room may not be ready. DME will have our checked bags, so they'll show up in our room later.

My question is...What about our carry-on bags? If our room isn't ready, and we want to go to the parks, what can we do with them? Is there a storage area?

They ( bell services) will store your carry-ons for you. Then you can just pick them up later.

We always arrive way before noon and when the room is not ready we take our carry-ons to the park and put them in a locker . I just have too much in them to leave them to a trusting room tha many people are in and out of.

Now I have never had a problem and we do just put them in out luggage for Bell Services to hold when we check-out (we leave supe late as well). Then we just take them out before getting on the bus.

I even thought of just bringing one of them fold up duffle bags instead of checking the 3 backpacks we use we could out them all in that and leave it.

we had to have the bell service keep our carry-on bags when we left the resort b/c something had happened with our airline tix and we couldnt check in at WL so we had to put everything in storage until the DME bus came and then the bell service loaded it in the bus for us but we have stored stuff w/bell service many times and the service is normally very quick and efficient.

No problem with your carryons, they will hold them in the back for you. We do this all the time as we sometimes arrive before checkin and our room isn't ready so they take our bags in the back and we head to the park and when our room is ready they call us.

Sorry, I don't mean to high jack this thread but I was wondering if you do get to the resort and do the early check-in thing will they assign you a room # that isn't ready or do you find out what your room # is later? :confused3

It's very hard to predict. At times I was told what my room number was and was given my key and was told when the room was ready I would be called and then when I returned to the hotel I could just go to my room and my baggage was in the room and then at times I didn't know my room number yet and when I was called to let me know it was ready I was told to come to the front desk when I returned.

They may tell you what building you are in, but they won't give you a room number until the room is ready.
