We'll be checking in at Poly in late Dec around noon and i'm wondering if our room would be ready. What was your experience?

I was thinking we could eat lunch at Kona and hopefully it would be ready by like 1:30pm. We are requesting our top 3 longhouse choices and wanting top floor w/a balcony.

Would we be better off just assuming it wont be ready til 3pm, so we should just head off to Epcot or should we wait around and be hopeful?

Thanks for your help!

I have never been able to check in before 3 PM, however, I have always asked for a specific building and view. I usually check in, leave luggage, and take the monorail over to the MK, they give you a card with a number to call, and you can keep checking.

We stayed at the Poly in June. My husband went over to check in about 8:00 am , while the kids and I were getting ready to go to DHS, thinking we could go back early afternoon and our room might be ready. But my husband called me and he was standing in our room. We did not make any special requst, but were very happy, our luggage was transfered from the contempory. Also I wanted to say Kona's -Great.:thumbsup2 Our fav meal all week and we ate several table meals.

Has always been after 3 Pm for us. We did check in around 10:30 one year and 1:30 this past year.

We arrived at Poly around 2p and were able to get in then.

A lot depends on what time of year and how big the crowd is.

We waited around and ended up wasting our time. Our room was ready at 5 p.m.

Staying at Shades of Green one night and then will check in around 7-8 am at the Poly. We will head out to the parks for the day but it would be AWESOME to get our room right away!!

It can depend on how many rooms are empty the night before. Those rooms are ready for check-in first thing in the morning. But they probably will not be the most popular locations.

yeah, i'm starting to think waiting around would not be a good use of time.
However, i think we'll stick with eating at Kona for lunch when we arrive.
Do you really need an ADR for lunch at Kona?

Considering the time of year you are going I'd say yes ADRs are a must. Thats whats probably going to keep you from getting your room early too. I've always heard the more requests you have the longer it will take. The worst wait we ever had was requesting connecting rooms.

We got back from our trip about two weeks ago. We stayed 3 days at SOG and 3 days at the Poly. We were afraid we would have to wait for our room at the Poly, but luckily enough after we checked out of SOG and went straight to the Poly to check in our room was ready for us at 11am! :) I would make the ADR for the Kona for lunch if that's what you want to do. They were kinda busy for lunch when we were there.

We stayed at the Poly in June requesting connecting garden view rooms in Tokelau. We checked in by 11:30, went to lunch at Captain Cook's, returned at 12:30 to see if our rooms were ready, and they were..... connecting rooms in Tokelau with a water view. Yea us!!!!! :cool1: This was the first time in our many, many visits that our rooms were ever ready this early. We were thrilled that we could get settled and visit the parks earlier than we had hoped.

Oct 07 we did a split stay, switched to the Poly on a Sunday at noon. Our room was ready at 3. We valeted the car so Bell Services held our luggage and delivered it to the room when it was ready.

We are going next weekend, staying one night at CRS before checking into the Poly. We are going to sleep in, have breakfast at CRS and then get to the Poly at noon again.

It just depends. I've had them be ready/not ready at all different times.

Same here. We have checked in many times to be taken directly to our room. And then other times we just leave our luggage and it's in our room waiting when we return in the afternoon. I think it's hit and miss myself.

I think both times our room was ready about an hour before check-in time. We stashed our bags with the front desk, hopped the monorail and went to the MK to check in with Mickey :) If I remember correctly, they give you a number you can call to check the status of your room or something, and that's how we kept track of when it was time to head back to the hotel.
