Andrew's first Dentist appointment was when he was 2 years old and today I just made Savannah's first appointment, she is 3...Andrew goes every 6 months now and after Savannah's first visit on Thursday, she will do the same...I am just curious when everyone else started taking their child to the Dentist?

:):)

Moira was 2 years old. They didn't really do anything as far as cleanings go, they just checked her out and took it as an opportunity for her to meet them. She goes every 6 months now.

DS#1 was a few months over 3.
DS#2 was just a couple weeks ago, so a few weeks past his 3rd bday.
Its every 6 months after that.

I agree with our pediatrician who recommends the first visit be at age 3.

DS was about 3. Our pediatrician reccommended a great pediatric dentist, and we have been going every 6 months since

DD was 4 and DS was 15 months. They both go every 6 months!!

He was about 2 1/2. he went to a pediodentist (sp) just special for kids. it wa sgreat till he gave him to much floride and he threw up all over my car that was only 2 months old. LOL Now he goes every 6 months like I am supposeto. I make it more once ayr and I have dental.:D

DS was 3, and he's been very good about going every 6 months:D

DS #1 was just a few months past 2 years old. He loves his Doctor "Joe" too. Loves to go for his cleanings too! No cavaties yet but he will have to get 2 teeth pulled (as soon as I have the nerve to make the appt) since he has overcrowding & he will need braces. :( The teeth pulling is in preparation for the brace$.

DS #2 is 16 months old & a biter so I'll wait a little while longer before introducing our beloved dentist to our little finger biter! :o

Just took DS3 in 1 week after his 3rd birthday. Did great with the cleaning. Not happy about the x-rays. It was hard for him to keep the xray film in his mouth long enough -- he cried just a bit but she was able to get the pictures. Did okay with the floride too. The hygenist dabbed it on rather than use the thing that holds it and goes inside of their mouths.

Now, the next thing, Wednesday night, he goes to have a filling done. Yep, 1st visit and a cavity:( . Not a good sign of things to come. Dentist says it's going to be easy and won't need any novicain. We'll see what happens. Of course, I took the chickens way out and scheduled it so DH has to take him. Lucky him!

DS first went when it was required. I honestly don't remember whether that was Pre-school (maybe) or, KDG (for sure). He had a pulpotomy, I remember that. AWFUL!!! Don't let your child go through that, have the tooth pulled!!

DD has been going since age 2. Seemed much easier to get her started early since DS goes regularly anyway.

They both see a Pedodontist. Not sure where DS will go when he reaches 'age' because, he didn't like my dentist as a child so, I'd never do that to him again. :(

In this office, with DD anyway, we started with her sitting and laying down with me. She's been on her own for the last 3 or 4 visits tho. ;)

There's a lot of dental horror stories out there for kids who never go until it's required for entry into school!

Our DD was 2, and has been going every six months since then, now she's 12 1/2 and will be getting her braces off later this morning. Braces on 3/8/01 off 3/4/03. We bought her a pack of sugarless gum last night and she is going to have it with her in the car waiting.

Both of my children went in around age 2-1/2 for a meet with the dentist and count how many teeth they had, from that point on every six months faithfully I take them for check ups and cleanings.
Funny that you mention that, I spoke to the dental hygienist in my dd's school the other day, she came home with a form to fill out by the dentist ( which coincidentally we had seen the day before ) and when I called she said to me that she wishes all the parents would do that but not too many parents in that school do that. My kids already have their appointment for the first week of August done and this week I'm calling to schedule an appointment for their physical probably before they finish school, yes I do it then because in the summer the doctor's office gets crazy with that.

Two of my sons were 3 and the other was 4 when I first took them.:D

Mine were between two and three when I first took them. You have to realize that the oldest will be 34 soon, so it was a long time ago. We must have done something right, because she still has not had a filling!

Between 2 and 3 years old. I also made sure that they came with me for dental visits and sat in the room and saw that the dentist was an OK person. I was fortunate that my two would sit quietly in an out of the way space and watch. They were fascinated by the whole thing.
