When was the Lawnmower tree removed entirely? And why?

We just spent a long weekend at the Fort and were disappointed that we couldn't find the Lawnmover Tree (stump) anymore. We assume it was eventually removed after being cut back to a stump. Can someone tell me when, and why that happened?

Best I can find is a thread from another site from early November 2013.
No reason why except my own thought that maybe it was just too rotted away.

It was there during our trip in June 2012. Was removed a few months afterwards. The tree had long died and there was nothing left but about 4 feet of rotting stump. Apparently it was dug up and turned into a golfcart parking spot. Shame, that lawnmower was actually in a part of the tree that we refer to as a "lighter knot". Those knots will last for a long time.

I don't think dead wood lasts very long in Florida. I'm going to assume it may started to be a safety issue.

I agree! We also used those 'lightern knots' for 'kindling' for our wood fires when I was growing up in LA and they last 'forever' even in the south!!

It just probably got 'in the way' of Disney's 'plans/progress'! :( Remember that tree when it was relatively small and the lawnmower blade was very visible - sigh!
