Just curious,

Are renovations done as needed or is there a certain schedule that the DVC resorts follow?

Does anyone have any info on possible interior room refurbishing that may take place at VB?

Thanks in advance.

We were there last week, and it looks like it's long over due. The springs in the mattress were popping through, everything needed fresh paint and a good cleaning. Many outside fixtures were rust covered. Too bad, it was a great resort. AAA has dropped it to a 3 star.

Well I'm confused...
We were there in January and everything (except the putt-putt golf) looked to be in good form.

Thanks for the info.

Did you stay in the villas or the inn?

Tagrel's pictures of the villas look wonderful and the outside always looks great when we are there. We had a few minor issues the last few times we were there.

I've been reading a lot about the refurb at other DVC resorts and started to wonder if they are on some type of schedule.

Maistre Gracey,

What was wrong with the putt putt golf in January. When we were there in October for a week-it was closed for refurbishment.

Do you usually stay in the inn or the villas.

Does DVC give members advance notice when they will be working on a property?

floridafam, within the last year we have stayed in a dedicated 2br in building 14, and cottage 1575. There were the normal minor issues, but I reported them and the staff was receptive.

We are also scheduled for a 2br this October, and a cottage in April '04. I guess that means we have never stayed (or scheduled to stay) in the inn.

Actually, the putt-putt was better when we were there in January. It was a complete mess the previous September. That was likely before the refurb.

We were at VB last week in a dedicated 2 BR (1444). It was nice but both DW and I thought it could use refurbishing soon.

Funny, I was celebrating the news -

"Just got the latest issue of Travel and Leisure magazine featuring "The Worlds Best". The ONLY Disney hotel that made the list of the Top 100 Hotels in the US and Canada is Disney's Vero Beach Resort at #77."

donald@home was telling us about in the thread - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=410271&highlight=+Vero

Ocean air and salt water can take a toll on fixtures and external surfaces. But it seemed in great condition when we were there in July. Putt acceptable, still needing some work. Pool outstanding, restaraunt wonderful, entrance way, all walkways, room, beach access, etc seemed very nice. Don't know about the rehab schedule.

There is a planned maintenance for all the resorts but I don't know that DVC has ever shared the schedule. They do usually put something in the VM (or maybe now in our newsletters) telling of any major thing that will be happening....such as closing a pool.

Vero pool was closed and rehabed last September, if I remember correctly.

I certainly want to see the resort kept up to Disney quality standards. Seems there has been some rehabing of the business center and conversion of the sales offices. The additional seating area near the main lobby was nice.

We stayed in an Inn room in April and I thought the room and resort were in as good/great condition as every other DVC resort. THere was some sort of leak problem in our room- maybe a roof or gutter issue. The carpet by the bed would be soaking each morning in a few spots and there was a mildew smell. But everything else was great. My parents stayed in a GV room and they are in the process of buying a resale there they loved it so much.

We were at VB over President's week and everything was in great shape. The room was in very good condition, the DW has a bad back and the matress was fine.

We had a 1 bedroom and while we were there they were painting the outside.

We were in 2225 OV Inn and 1236 1BDR in June and they were both in great shape. Around Blding 12 they did have sections of the walkways and sod tore up to replace. They would have to replace all the fixtures every year to keep them in tip top shape. They clean the fixtures regularly and anyone who spends a good amount of time near the sea knows what a toll the salt air does to everything around it.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I've never noticed any worn outside fixtures.

We've noticed some furniture missing from our room and other things in our particular room.

We were at Vero the first weekend in Aug in a dedicated 2 bedroom 1223 and found everything in tip-top shape.....granted there was a bit of wear and tear, but nothing that showed any neglect.

My only complaint would be that they add a couple more rocking chairs on the porch!!!

When we were in an OV Inn room(2415-King bed room) it was in excellent shape this past July.
