When using the dining plan, do you order the most expensive thing?

Just because you can?? :rotfl:

Looking at the menus where we are eating - Via Napoli, California Grill, Tutto Italia and La Hacienda something something - some of the entrees are pretty pricey at some places and I just want to order them because I can! :)

We are on the plan where you get a snack, a counter service and a table service a day. I think that's enough food. All our table services will be dinner in the late evenings. I'll probably save dessert for breakfast!

So excited, it's been over 10 years since I've been to Disney!!

We will be on the dining plan for our upcoming trip, we've planned out our meals, and yes, we priced out everything including what would get us the most bang for our buck.

Doesn't everyone?

I do have to add, I like that you call it La Hacienda something something. :lmao:

I don't know about you, but I'm on the DxDP. :snooty:

What are ya gettin' at Cali Grill?

I don't want to feel like I have to order something just because it is the most expensive item and the best deal. Another reason I don't do the dining plan.

I don't necessarily order the most expensive thing but I do look at the prices.

If I am going to order something cheaper like an entree' salad then I may pay out of pocket for that particular meal and then use my credits elsewhere.

It's just for fun, not because I feel like I have to. I'm excited to do the dining plan, something nice about knowing my food is paid for.:)

Don't know what I'm eating yet, still looking....:rotfl: Really, I'll just decide that day, it's just fun to look while waiting to go on the trip.

I order what looks to be something I wouldnt normally order because of price, but also looks incredibly delicious.

So ya have to include lookin' over the dining reviews.

And cuss the folks who don't take pictures, dang it! :rotfl:

Remember the California Grill takes 2 Dining Credits per person. I don't know if you have Free Dining, but if you are on the Dining Plan, that is almost $50 an entre'.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but being a first timer, it is very exciting.

I thought I might, but I didn't. Still had to pay 20%, but that wasn't much of a consideration. I just went with what sounded good each day.

I know it's two credits, thanks. We will have fun trying to spend that money!:rotfl:

I have a question-If you go out to eat and are paying OOP do you order the cheapest thing on the menu? I order what I actually want to eat no matter where I go or how I am paying.

Not neccessarily. I picked what I thought sounded great (or what I thought looked great on another table. LOL)

Oh man, I was just doing some planning tonight and having fun, never mind!:rotfl:

Planing on the DDP is a lot of fun and I apologize for being a killjoy. I read a lot from people on the restaurant board who do only order the most expensive things they can on the DDP just too. If it is what you want go for it :thumbsup2
But I'm not going to order something I don't really want just to cost the restaurant more.

If I'm eatin' more than what's covered on the DP, I do pay OOP for the less expensive restaurant.

And I use the same logic on snack credits too, use the credits for the more expensive ones 'n pay OOP for the cheaper ones. :3dglasses

We got the dining plan, we went to counterservice for lunch and ordered what we wanted, went to dinner reservations and ordered what we wanted, and bought snacks when we wanted.

We ended up with several counter service and many snacks left because we ended up ordering a pizza at the resort for lunch a few times.

I had all the receipts. Being the geek I am I tallied up all the receipts. Receipts totaled $716.72 not including the snacks and we paid $650 for the dining plan.

We wouldn't have had dessert for every meal (any meal for that matter) but the fact that we didn't pay for many bottles of water or ice cream or whatever the kids wanted to snack on in the parks and I didn't tally those items, it probably breaks out even there.

So we saved $66.72. Probably ate the same things we would have eaten anyways had we made the same reservations without the dining plan.

If you really want a deal, go over to Coronado Springs Resort and eat at the Pepper Market. It is a Counter Service Credit and some of their main entre's cost $17.
You can get a burritto the size of your head.:rotfl:
This is definately the bang for your buck.

Uh, no thanks. :lmao:

I don't see us ever doing the dining plan because DD and I don't eat enough to make it worthwhile and DH shouldn't eat that much even though he could. That being said, I'd be inclined to order things I've always wanted to try regardless of the price. The dining plan would definitely allow me to be more adventurous.
