Hey! I don't usually do trip reports; but this is somewhat of a different trip, so I thought it would be a good one to get my feet wet on. This trip is was not expected - we actually had our November/December trip planned for much longer - since November 2009 to be exact. A situation came up; however, which made this last minute (for us) trip a reality - and for which we leave at noon today! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

As my 2 year old DS would say:

Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da DAAAAAAA!!!!

:darth::yoda::darth::yoda::darth::yoda::darth::yoda::darth::yoda:

The Star Wars/Disney Saga!

First, let me introduce us:

Myself - :smickey:(picked this bc I have this tattoo) mid 30's mom, disney fanatic and anal retentive planner

DH - :darth: close to 40 disney fanatic but even BIGGER star wars fanatic - dark side only please

DS - :yoda: 2 1/2 son who is BOTH a disney fanatic who especially loves Toy Story, Nemo and Monsters, Inc. but also knows more about Star Wars than any 2 year old should know about Star Wars - he has seen all the movies (blame Dh and not me). His favorite scene is in the Empire Strikes Back when my former boyfriend Han Solo was frozen and Chewbacca goes crazy ("I wanna see Chewbacca Mama, CHEWBACCA" - what he says when he wants to see it) His least favorite? When Darth Vader takes his mask off in the Return of the Jedi - "Mama, I don't like - it makes me sad". He doesn't like the newer ones and in fact tells me if I play them "Mama, that's NOT Star Wars"! Funnily enough, dh and I feel the same way! :rolleyes1

So here we are last year in October, 2009:

So, this trip all started back in May. I was feeling really down because I had messed up dh's birthday present back in March - so bad, we didn't get to celebrate. I not only messed it up, but we lost money as a result. I actually did a thread on it which you can read:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2428838

So it ended badly and I wanted to do something nice for Dh for father's day. Then one day I was reading my allears email when I learned that there was going to be a Star Wars Convention in Orlando and Disney was taking part with an amazing deal at POFQ! I was really excited but not sure whether to do it because I was so burned the last time.

So I called dh and told him, "look, your son wants to do an amazing father's day present for you because of what happened with your birthday which involves a trip mid-august; however, we're scared because of what happened on your birthday, what are your thoughts?" he assured me that we would be fine for a long weekend and to go for it.

So, milliseconds later, I got Star Wars Convention tix for friday and saturday8/13-14; "Last tour to endor" tickets for saturday night 8/14; booked POFQ for three nights; and got SW tickets leaving 8/12 and returning 8/15. I was really happy to go to POFQ bc the last time we were there was 12 years ago for our honeymoon and loved it. Then after I spent a bucket of money, I panicked. :scared1: What if we lose all of that money? :sad2: I would never forgive myself!

Then, I had to keep it a secret for a month and a half until father's day which slowly killed me. I was dying to talk about it, especially when I learned many bigwigs were coming like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, George Lucas . . . . And I had no one who cared to talk to about it. I tried to occupy my time by making cool things for presents. Chaoscent over on the DISigns boards was amazing and made designs so I could make an autograph album which I made through Artscow and tshirts which I ironed with transfer paper.

So a couple of days before father's day, my DS and I went to Walmart and I got a darth vader gift bag, a darth vader card that had sound saying "I am your father"; the DVD fanboys which is about star wars fans breaking into george lucas' home. Then I put this letter in it which I used off of DOM from DISigns:

I also put in the autograph album with this cover Chaoscent made:

I then made a tshirt with this DISign from Chaoscent:

Then the day before Father's day, my dh asked my DS what he was getting . . . "Star Wars Papa!" :scared1:

Next Post: "I have a bad feeling about this"

Well, last I left you (about two seconds ago) I was at :scared1: bc my sweet, sweet boy basically blew up our present!

So, time for back talking! "Well, honey, you know you just watched Star Wars with him, maybe he is talking about that?"

So, thankfully, dh accepted that and crisis averted!

So, Father's day morning, my son brought in the darth vader bag with all of the goodies. Dh kept taking things out and not really saying anything. It was driving me crazy! Here I was dying for a month wanting to tell him and I get SILENCE!?!?!?!?!?

Then he just said "Really?"

Duh, YEAH!

And he just burst into the biggest grin I had ever seen from him in our 15 years together - he's not much a smiler, but this one almost made me fall off of the bed.

He loved it!

But then, work started giving trouble again . . . and I was getting stressed again . . . .

The problem with my dh's work is that it's so volatile when it comes to its work. He works in the government and it's VERY political - and I don't mean office politics - I mean it's actually politics. So when things weren't getting done on time by no fault of his, but on a global scale, there was a real likelihood this trip wasn't going to happen AGAIN!!!!!!! And I was freaking out because this would have been present fiasco number two and only within a couple of months from each other. And once again losing a ton of money!

And it really came down to the wire - we learned last friday it was a go - :worship: (I really wanted a fainting smiley but this was the closest I could get)

So I started doing my crafting again - with help from Chaoscent's DISigns, I played with them, with her permission and made these tshirts:

For me for the "Last Tour to Endor Party":

For my dh for the "Last Tour to Endor Party"

For my DS for "Last Tour to Endor Party"

Then this is a front back shirt I made for DS when we get Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill's autographs at the Convention:

And finally for me for the convention the day George Lucas is there:

And now, we are all packed and counting less than five hours until we are on our plane!

Next Official Post: "Only a Sith Lord deals in absolutes" - but I will post live reports as I'm there too!

Let me know your interested!:thumbsup2

So, I'm in MK in the pavillion between the castle and tomorrowland right now waiting for the thunderstorm to pass. It's very relaxing and DS is taking a much needed nap. Then crystal palace at 7 pm and hopefully the electric parade. Happy Friday!

Awesome! Have fun!

My nephew & I are heading down tomorrow morning. Return to Endor party here we come!

I'm in. We were at the Celebration Saturday (hmmm, may have to look through my pics to see if I see all of you).

So glad you made it and sorry to hear about that first trip being cancelled. My husband is in the military and we can never plan anything. Right now waiting to see when he goes on his next trip and whether I can plan to attend Mickey's Halloween party.

We didn't get to go to the Last Tour to Endor, so looking forward to reading how much you enjoyed, probably kicking myself in the rear the whole time.

Hey all! I will be back if people let me know if they are interested in the trip - just trying to catch up on work first since that's what pays for the trips! Had some ups and downs and boy did the heat really get to me but it was a great trip overall!

I'm going to get up the report soon, but here are a couple of pix to hold you over - you can guess what's going on!
