Our family has booked a Disney vacation from Sat. Feb 27 to Sat. March 5. But I just learned that March 1 is Mardi Gras and how big of a holiday Mardi Gras is in Florida and the surrounding states. And I just read that Disney is packed during Mardi Gras. Here's the good news, we have flexible schedules.

When would you visit Disney World for a week in January or February 2022? Thank you!

We have visited the most in Jan or Feb - we really like going that time of year plus it's a nice respite from the weather up north for us, and breaks up the gloomy few months between the holidays and spring (at least it does for me!) With that being said, we favor the end of January or very beginning of Feb. - defiantly get in and out before President's Day weekend.

We had planned to go in early Dec. for the holiday decorations, but didn't get our ducks in a row fast enough and can't get our preferred resort, so I think we will probably be there again this late January!

That's a great suggestion. Thank you. Do you venture into the pools in Jan/Feb?

Regarding resorts, I would appreciate your suggestions. When we visit our boys will be 9 and 6 and our baby girl will be 1 1/2. We are trying to figure out what resort is our best option. We are debating between Caribbean (cost and skyliner), AoA suite (skyliner), Wilderness, Beach Club, and Contemporary. The Carribean is $1,000 cheaper. We can afford the extra $1,000, but is it really worth it to stay at a deluxe resort without the skyliner?

We also have these considerations:
1) Transportation is very important because one parent and the baby will need to leave theme parks early for naps.
2) We are spending two days at Magic Kingdom and two days at Hollywood (Galaxy's Edge). We are doing one day at Epcot (or taking an off day) and one day at AK.
3) We will have a stroller.

Thank you so much for your help!

hmmmm well here is my unvarnished opinion ;)
I didn't care for the Caribbean. Nothing wrong with it, just not my thing like Port Orleans Riverside was.
Have stayed at Wilderness, Beach Club & Contemporary - all GREAT! Obviously - Beach Club has that pool area. You mentioned 9 & 6 year old boys? We started taking our boys when they were 7 & 5, and we were having to pull them out of the pool with blue lips. They were all in on swimming...me myself? na, I didn't get in. But yeah, the kids definitely did. Wilderness & Contemporary also have really nice pools. I haven't stayed at AoA, but I have ridden the skyliner - personally I wouldn't stay anywhere just because of it as a transportation source. But I am also not schlepping around 3 kids and a stroller so I'm looking at if from a different perspective than you! If you think MK is going to be a bigger part of your trip I'd go Contemporary or Wilderness. If you think Studios and/or Epcot than I'd go skyliner or Beach Club. One thing about Beach Club that we love is that we can easily walk to two parks from the resort. Again - my youngest was 5 when we first took them, so we did not have to deal with a stroller, and that was 20 years ago so I'm out of the whole juggling kids game in terms of how we do WDW, so I may look at it a bit different. I personally think the deluxe resorts are 110% worth it without taking the skyliner into it.

Do you anticipate down time for mom & dad whilst the kids are in the pool or chilling out watching a movie? Beach Club or Wilderness might be a good spot if you guys appreciate a balcony to out on or a bar area near the pool.

Sorry! I might not be the best help haha! Is this your first trip? If it is AND you think that you'll be back AND you think the skyliner is integral to the kids enjoyment then I'd go Caribbean or AoA - because once you go deluxe it is hard to step back down (again - just my opinion). If you come from cold climate and you know the kids will want to make a beeline to the pool I'd go Beach Club.

Haven't been to WDW in 11 years. I know a lot has changed. Is it still less crowded the first week of February?

I'm going the first week of February and it's my first February trip. I did learn there is a dance team competition during that time but one of the moms on the dis said it should only affect the weekend crowds as far as crowd levels go. I hope thats true because this is a shorter trip for me and hubby and we are looking forward to the hopefully cooler weather and lower crowds.
