When To Visit Blue Bayou?

We ate here twice last week and had waterside tables each time. We had reservations for 11:30 on Thursday and 11:40 on Monday. Check in begins at 11:15 and we were told that 11:30 reservations get first priority at waterside tables.

We loved eating there. The flat iron steak was so good!

I do the same. 11:30AM. You cannot request waterside when you make the res. You need to show up with your whole party at 11:10-11:15 for check-in and request it then.

This is our experience, as well. We've been doing this for the past three years. People with ADRs start lining up to check-in about 20 minutes before the restaurant opens. IIRC, the CMs seated people in the check-in order. Those that checked in first were seated first.

If it's true that afternoon ADRs can opt to wait longer for a waterside table, then I'll also try that on our next trip. It seems that the pre-check waiting to snag waterside tables for 11:30 reservations and the extra wait for those same tables later in the day amount to the same thing: ~ extra waiting. :)

I have an ADR for 12:30 on a Friday. However, I will be dining solo. Will I get dirty looks for taking up a water-side table all by myself? Will they even give it to me?

That seems like a strange question to me.

I cannot imagine why anyone would "penalize" you socially or with seating choices because you are solo.

I agree with HydroGuy. I don't think there is anything wrong with eating solo and/or asking for a waterside table (as long as you're willing to wait if they say there is a wait). I think there might be a few tables for two along the railing, so most likely they'd seat you at one of those if they're available.

I've dined solo all over Disneyland and Walt Disney World. As a paying Guest at these restaurants you have every right to request any open table at any restaurant.

Fundamentally, I agree with what you're saying (that you can make table requests), but I do think it's worth remembering that just because you can ask, it doesn't mean the restaurant is going to accept the request. The Blue Bayou does seem willing to take waterside table requests and then does their best to honor those requests, but there are several WDW-restaurants that are well known for not always accepting requests.

I ate at BB just last Sat. as a solo and had a waterfront table. The cm at check in told me that 11:30 ADRs automatically get waterfront. Don't worry about dirty looks; their bad attitude is their problem, not yours. You just enjoy.
