I think following our recent visit to WDW I have started to get wedding mad (I guess it seems real now!)

Were planning an at home reception/party following our wedding in December 2010. Were planning on having the party the first weekend after new year so hopefully 8 January 2011, were inviting around 150 guests most of whom will be travelling across the country, and many work shifts/spells abroad etc.

Its really important for us to try and have everyone there especially as we wanted the actual wedding for immediate family, and there will only be 20 of us.

Do you think its crazy to put a little save the date card in peoples Christmas cards this year and follow up with formal invitations about 6 months before (most people will need to book hotels etc)?

Thanks :)

There is no reason why not to, saves on the postage as well.

Invites that I have gotten for weddings usually arrive one and a half to two months in advance. I personally think that if people commit 6 months in advance there is a better likelihood that they may change their minds. I think a STD out early is a great idea!

Our ceremony is 10/10/10 and my goal, is the have our Save the dates in the mail the middle of Nov. That gives people 11 months to make plans. We'll send out invites mid Aug, 2 months before ceremony. I think that's reasonable.;)
