My husband and I are planningg our trip to WDW in September. We will be arriving in Orlando at 12:50, and plan on heading to Hollywood Studios after we check in at Coronado Springs. I'm trying to figure out how long to wait before scheduling FastPasses there. I was thinking possibly scheduling our first one around 2:30. Do you think that would give us enough time to get to the bus, get to CSR and check-in, then get to the bus to HS? Or should I have our first FP+ start later? We have a dinner scheduled at 5:45 at Sci-Fi, so I want to be able to work in the 3 FP+s around that.

my rule of thumb is it takes 2 hours to make it from MCO to Park via DME.

Assuming your fight lands on time, and you instantly make it to the DME, and walk on to a bus, it's 40-45 minutes at least to your resort. Plus 10-15 minutes getting your room packet, plus 15-20, transportation time to the park, and 10 or so minutes to make it to your attraction.

I personally don't assume Plane will be on time, I'll get right on a bus at DME nor the Resort, and I always hit the restrooms and it takes about 15 minutes to get from the Gates to the main terminal where DME is. add up all the little times, 2 hours is about right. I would not make my first couple of FP+ for things taht are MUST Do.

One Delay in airtravel and you'd miss it.

If you make a 2:30-3:30 FP make it for a throw away...not Toy Story, RnR, or ToT. If it's for Muppets, Star Tours, Great Movie ride it's no great loss. If you won't make it on time you can reschedule but if it's a sought after FP you may not get another window.

I would say start your FP+ at about 3:00 for the less popular attractions. Try and make TSMM or TOT for a little later. Also, do on-line check-in. It saved us a ton of time judging by the lines of people checking in. I planned about 3 hours to land, get to ME, get to CSR, check in, get to EPCOT for Soarin'. We could have done it in 2 easily (maybe we were lucky). Our room was ready so we dropped our carry-ons and headed out to the bus stop. Do you have a direct flight? That makes a difference. I just had a nightmare business trip trying to get home through DFW. So many canncelled and delayed flights. I had to fly to an alternate airport (50 miles away from home) and arrange ground transportation. Back to Disney though, I found almost everything to be a little quicker than I thought it would be; bus travel times to the parks, stand-by queue times, bus wait times. However, we were very disappointed at the DTD situation. It is just a mess with the construction and transportation. Have fun!
