When to rent points?

Let's say I want to rent points for a trip in early May 2007. We want a one bedroom suite at the BWV, a standard view for six nights, which I calculated would run us 160 points. Here are my questions:

Am I correct in understanding that someone whose "home" is BWV can make a ressie 11 months out and all others 7 months out? So, potentially, I can get my ressie in April 2006 (11 months out)?

Is the problem with waiting to 7 months out that the BWV might be booked? Does that happen?

Thanks - I know this seems far out, but if I need to have my $$$ lined up to pay someone cash, it really isn't that far in advance. In case you haven't guessed, I'm a planner!!!

Yes, you understand correctly, except you wouldn't be able to get your ressie until June (April would actually be 13 mos. out). If it were me, I would post something on the Rent/Trade Board in May '06 so you could get lined up with a BWV owner. Standard view is very popular due to the lower point requirements, so you'd be better off finding someone to rent from that can call day-by-day to get the villa you want.

No it would be June 2006-11 months after the check out date. May is not a very busy month so 7 months out may work but the 11 motnh is the way to go.

If you are set on standard view, definitely make that ressie at teh 11 month from check out date. I would start looking for people with BWV points in May so that they can make that ressie 11 months from the check out date.

definitely start in May - standard views are only 20 to 25% of the resort. So they go very, very fast.

I first thought the new BW view would kept more standard views out.

but other than the first couple of months - standard view still seem to be more popular.
