I am going with my family to disneyworld this spring. This will be the first trip for all of us. I am planning the trip myself. I have already made reservation at Port Orleans, and have booked my flight. One question though, I was planning to purchase my tickets at the local Disneystore about a month in advance. But I saw in the Official guide to Disney book that you should purchase your tickets six months in advance! Is this true? Any information would be appreciated.

There are a couple advantages to buying the hoppers early: 1)You protect yourself from any future price increases 2) You can budget out for them and spread your cost out.

What many people do is buy 1 a month, or at some such frequency to break up the cost so it's not one big chunk of change at one time. Really it's not going to matter unless the cost goes up prior to you purchasing.

Stacey2grls,
You might consider looking at the tickets on the two follwoing sites they both sell discounted Disney Park Hopper tickets. I recently purchased my mother a 7 park hopper pass from maple leaf tickets and it was cheaper than getting them ahead of time at the Disney store and they send them priority mail. I would do bussiness through them again. Also consider signing up for the mousesavers newsletter sometimes Mary has special deals in there for newsletter subscribers.

Hope This Helps :D

I always get my tickets from AAA.
I also always get any I need BEFORE the 1st of the year, because I have heard the they tend to go up every year just after the 1st of the new year.
I know they did last year. They went up a month after I bought them!;)

True, but don't freak out. They do tend to go up each year (sometimes more often, sometimes less), but it is usually only by a few dollars per pass. If you can buy them all way early that's great, but don't put yourself in hock to save $20 down the road.

I'm leaving in November and haven't bought my tickets yet. In fact, it's the only part of my trip that isn't paid for. I'm planning on buying them soon. I usually pick them up 1-2 months in advance.

ETA: I'm getting them through AAA. They have the cheapest price I've seen so far.

Thanks everybody for all your help, you are all great!
