when to go?

We are planning a trip for 2016, but are going to travel with friends of ours. She is a teacher and will probably have to go during a school break. We usually go and just pull our kids out of school.

That being said, when is the best time, during a school break, to actually go? We'd rather not go during the heat of summer, unless it was early or late. And we'd really like the crowds to not be terrible. I know it's asking a lot, but someone must know of some school break that is the least crowded!

Possible options: President's Day week in Feb= mid Winter break for us
Early June after the kids get out of school.
mid to late Aug before kids go back to school.
Week of Easter= Spring break
Memorial Day extended weekend

are any of these better than others? Thanks!

Well, you've pretty much nailed when everyone goes around school schedule.
I live here and go all year so maybe I can give you a few pointers. Others who frequent at any of these times can give you some more tips.

President's Day week in Feb= mid Winter break for us - Extremely crowded. Weather is great but there usually is a marathon this weekend as well (or close to this weekend). As a local, we avoid this weekend.

Early June after the kids get out of school. - Don't let "early" June fool you with FL heat. Early June is normally VERY hot. Our summer T-storms are usually not in full swing yet. These cool us off in mid day normally but in June, it's normally a sun bake. Not as crowded but be prepared for heat.

mid to late Aug before kids go back to school. - A VERY busy time as everyone is trying to get in the vaca b4 school. And it's BLAZING hot. As a local, we avoid late July thru August.

Week of Easter= Spring break - great weather but this is peak time for traffic. It's manageable if you plan correctly.

Memorial Day extended weekend - busy but again, manageable if you plan correctly. The heat here is starting to really get cranking as well. Be prepared for it with early afternoon breaks. Again, summer T-storms are not in full swing (if at all) and it can be a full day out baking in the sun.

So Easter/spring is manageable. The crowds do pick up but spring break is stretched out over 2 months for the schools so there is some over lapping. June crowd levels are normally not that bad but the heat can sneak up on you.

Late August will have lower crowds. Many of the schools in our area start school at the beginning of August. (Our town just started their own school district and may shift to a later start next year.) It will be hot hot hot in August.

One added note, hotels will probably be cheaper in mid to late August. The 2016 rates are not out yet but for 2015 you could see a $30-$40/night for a moderate hotel.

Late August is the best you can do.

You have to pick heat or crowds. I don't do well in heat myself, but I'd still choose it (I was just there actually). Late August crowds are significantly lower.

Are there really times that a Disney hotel is only $30-$40 a night? I check random dates and always for like Coronado and Port Orleans it is never under $100.

No, you will never find that kind of deal on disney property. Not even the campsites at FW go that low.

Thanks for your advice, opinions and helpfulness! The cost doesn't really matter as we use timeshares.

This did give me some things to think about and consider though!

oh, and by early June, it is probably more like mid June since school doesn't get out until around the 14th of the month (or whatever date close to that falls on a Thurs/Fri).

One question, you said for President's Day the weekend is extremelly busy, what about the week itself? Does it tend to be less crowded?
