When to go

I am a single parent who has an 8 year old daughter. The last time we went to Disney World was when she was in K5 so I was able to take her at the end of September which was great. Nice weather and no crowds. This year I want to do something great for her birthday which is the end of October. She is out of school the day before thanksgiving (Wednesday) so I was thinking about taking her out of school that Tuesday as well and head down Monday evening and spending Monday night through Thursday night at Disney with the excitement of having Thanksgiving dinner there. Then we would spend Friday checking out the Christmas decorations before heading home. What I would like to know is...How crowded will the park be at this time. I can imagine that it will be packed the weekend after Thanksgiving but what about the week leading up to it?

I would suggest trying the crowd calendar at www.touringplans.com. That having been said, I believe that weekend is quite brutal for attendance.

Thanksgiving is second only to Christmas for crowds. Basically it's the second most crowded time of the year. I'd pick another time. The week before thanksgiving should be lovely.
