Planning my first orlando holiday next year and planning on staying at the Sheraton City Hotel on I-Drive. I just have a quick question on when to go.

I'm currently looking at booking the last week of April and first week of May, but was thinking about booking the 1st two weeks of May instead. Anyone have any pointers on this? Will that different week make any difference?

Also whats the weather like in April/May? And hopefully park crowds will be manageable.

Thanks in advance folks.

Mike

I think late April early May (missing Easter) is one of the best times to go for a good combination of manageable crowds and ideal weather - it will be hot but not toooo hot like it is in the summer months.

October through early November is also a decent time to go.

Thanks for the replies.

How hot will it be that time of year? I take it the water parks will still be fun. I've never left europe so can't get my head round other climates!

And those who know the layout pretty well how feasable is it to walk to universal from the Sheraton City hotel? I've heard people say it can be done whereas others say it's a mission. I'm after a spot not too far from universal to get to citywalk.

Again, thanks.

Hi Mike, the Sheraton Studio City hotel is lovely, we have stayed there a couple of times. We walked to Universal and it took us about 25 mins. The hotel also has free shuttle buses to Universal and CityWalk :thumbsup2
We found the walk okay, but we don't mind walking. I can see how some people might not fancy it, but we enjoyed it :) :)

In early May it will still be pretty hot, just warming up for the summer - mid 80s perhaps, but certainly without the high humidity of the hotter summer months.

I would think you are looking at a good 20 minute or so walk to the entrance of Universal, even though it is fairly close-by.

For us Brits it feels hot even then. You may find that flights in April are cheaper than flights in May but it may be the opposite for the hotels. Certainly worth checking. I'm sure you will have a fantastic time whatever!

Just need to avoid Easter in April, flights expensive and parks very busy.

We went this year the last week of April and the first of May. It wasn't too crowded, wait times were ok, not too long anywhere. The weather was in the 80's and 90's, we had a storm the day after we arrived, in the afternoon, and a downpour the next day for about half an hour, but after that nothing at all but glorious sunshine for the rest of the holiday.

The second week was quieter than the first, so maybe if you went the first two weeks of May then it would be best, we probably still had the Easter holidaymakers in our first week. :sunny:
