Oy...I wanted to go in April, during dd's school vacation (week of April 16th), we went last year in the beginning of April and the weather was pefect! However, I'm working this year, albeit part time, and another teller is going out on maternity leave the second to last week of March, so I most likely won't be able to get time off.
So, I'd tossed around the idea of going in May, dd's just in kindergarten and therefore missing school won't matter quite so much. What's the weather and crowds like in May?
Then, I also thought maybe about going towards the end of September (maybe missing school at the beginning of the year won't be so bad as toward's the end?) or even early October. :confused3 Dh hates the heat, so I don't know if it'll be too hot in September for him.
I just don't want to wait til next winter to go to Disney. That's too durned long for me.
Help.:flower3:

I've been in late September and the weather was great. Also, no long lines. Just keep in mind that with the enactment of "No Child Left Behind" school districts have different policies on taking children out of school for a vacation. I would check with your district before doing it. For ours it counts as an unexcused absence. More than 2 per quarter can get you a visit from the truant officer. Also, if the absence is unexcused its up to the teacher whether or not they will provide makeup work. If the teacher doesn't want to do it, your child could get zeros on all work missed. While I don't think its a big deal in first grade, its something you might want to check into.

Crowds are pretty light in May but get heavier toward the end of the month. Weather in May can vary from pleasantly warm to very warm.

Setpember--and even into October-- will still be quite hot.

We have been in May, and it is wonderful. It is not brutally hot yet, but it is warm enough (sometimes hot) to swim and enjoy the water rides. We have also been several times in September - it is usually very hot with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. It is also peak hurricane season, but we don't let that worry us (we live on the coast of NC and deal with hurricane season every year). September is still value season, and you might get free dining if you are lucky. October starts regular season again - not as hot, but the crowds increase (especially Columbus Day weekend) and the hotel prices go up some. Last year, they had the preschool Magical Beginnings in September - free dining along with special activities and concerts. It seems like they announced that program in April last year - not sure if it will be back this year.

Happy planning! :thumbsup2

We went to DW last May 7-17, and it was HOT!!!!! We had one day that was rainy and quite cool, lower 60's. After the rain ended, the kids (or at least my brother's kids) did much better because it was so much cooler. The heat does take its toll. The cowds were hit or miss, some parks seemed packed with 45-60 min. waits, while we walked on rides at other parks. I've been to DW at the end of September, and the crowds are definately lighter and the weather was warm to hot, but with alost more rain. Sorry, this probably doesn't help. :rotfl: Just remember, you'll have a super time no matter what, it's Disney afer all:cool1:
