When to go in May?

Somehow I had it in my head that the rates went down May 1 so that would be a good time to go. Then yesterday I realized that the big celebration is May 5, so that would probably be a crowded time to go. When in May will the crowds be down?

WE HAVE GONE IN MAY FOR SEVERAL YEARS ALWAYS BETWEEN MAY 12 AND MAY 20TH AND NEVER REALLY HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH BIG CROWDS, IF THERE ARE ANY CROWDS THEY ARE USUALLY THERE ON THE WEEKENDS. SINCE THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG CELEBRATION I DON'T BELIEVE THERE WILL BE A MAJOR CROWDING ISSUE SINCE MOST KIDS DON'T GET OUT OF SCHOOL BEFORE MAY 20. THE FIRST WEEK OF THE CELBRATION MAY BE CROWDED BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME DISNEY FANATICS THAT WILL HAVE TO GET THERE FIRST TO SAY THEY WERE THERE. BESIDES THE WEATHER IN MID MAY IS FANTASTIC. I KNOW MY FAMILY WILL BE THERE!!!!

I had a trip planned in May for Star Wars Weekends and decided to wait until mid-September when I usually go. I was too scared that with the Star Wars Weekends and the 50th Celebration that it will be MORE crowded than I'm used to and I'm NOT used to many people since I go in mid-September, LOL!!!

I think it will be hard to quesstimate how many people will be there in May this year.

Go before the 20th, as we are, before most of the southern state schools get out. (We went last year from the 12-22 and it was perfect until the 22nd, because all the schools got out on the 21st) I asked a CM, and she said there has been no increase in reservations than previous years (the only increase has been during the summer- 15%!). We went last May and it was perfect. Star Wars weekend wasn't that big of a deal-crowd wise-that we noticed.

We are going to be there from May 21-29. The first three nights, we are staying off-site and doing off-site things, and then we head to Disney. I am thinking that this week may be the last "slow" week, since it's right after the southern schools get out for the summer, and right before Memorial Day Weekend. I'm guessing that not every southern family will be rushing the turnstiles that first week of summer vacation, so things should still be calm. After that week, however, it should be all man/woman for himseslf/hersefl!!!
