When to go for honeymoon?

Just got engaged 12 days ago- and off we go with the planning! We would like to be married in 2015 ideally-so we know we have to work fast. We are honest to God kind of planning the entire wedding around when Disney parks are slow and prices are lower. I was thinking of doing the wedding Labor Day weekend (if we can find one of the venues available still) and flying out to Disney on the 6th- staying for 5-7 nights. I travel to Disney a ton- especially during slow seasons- so I feel like I should know this- but is this usually when the prices go down a bit and parks empty out? I'm guessing as it's right after labor day and schools are generally started again?

I know nothing is guaranteed- but just hoping to get a sense.

Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome and congrats! Slowest months are LATE August-September & early December/early-mid January.

Also, the first two weeks of February, which is when we took our honeymoon to WDW and LOVED it!

Glad to hear this, since I'm taking my WDW honeymoon in early February!

Keep in mind, OP, that sometimes there are Disney races during the slower times. We luckily are just missing some type of marathon or 10k!

I'm sure these resources are oft repeated but: Many find the crowd calendars on Easy WDW to be the most helpful, but you can find a ton of others and compare if you google around. Check out too the historical discount data on Mousesavers.

I was once a cast member, and I found that one of the slowest times was right after Thanksgiving. Everyone goes home from the Thanksgiving vacations and the parks are pretty empty. Plus, most of the Christmas decorations are up, so it's pretty. The weather is also decent during that time - not too hot not too cool. But you don't want to wait too long after Thanksgiving, because people start coming back in December. Also, there are usually deals (at least in the past this has been true) during that time of room discounts and free dining plans, but usually those deals don't surface/get advertised until late summer.

Another good slow-ish time is May. That's right before school's out and after any kind of big holidays. But, spring is when a lot of schools take field trips to Disney (for educational programs), so keep that in mind. Also, I think that's when the flower and garden fest is at EPCOT.
