We had an awesome time at Disney World last year and we're planning a return visit. We're debating between August and September. Our biggest problem is my son starts Kindergarten on 8/23. If we go in August we can spend a whole week there but what are the crowds like??? We're thinking the week of 8/18. If we went in September my son would have to miss a couple days of school and we'd probably only be able to spend 3 days in the World. But I'm guessing the crowds would be less. Any thoughts???

We vote for a longer trip in Aug ! Our last 2 trips have been in Aug (2000,"05) just so that we would not have to take DD and DS out of school. We are going again this coming Aug. Crowds are very manageable. Good luck and have fun !! :thumbsup2

Free bump b/c I too want to know about August. I'm just comparing to July instead of September.

The crowds are going to be very heavy in August.

I say take him out of school. My parents always did, and we turned out fine ;) September is a great time to go, it's still warm, and there are virtually no lines most of the time.

Plus I know that the particular week in august that you listed is the week that my old day camp went to Disney for 5 days. Picture it: 50 pretty much unsupervised 12-14 year olds running around the world.

The last week of August is pretty light. My daughter would have been lost missing all of the first "get to know your classmate" activities in Kindergarten. My vote would be for August.

We always go the last week in August. Crowds are much nicer than full summer because the Southern states have started school. Last August we never had to wait more than 20 minutes for any ride. Crowds may bump up if they offer free dining again but that promotion is usually at the beginning of the month. Its still very hot but since the parks are open until 10:00-11:00 pm daily it allowed us to go to the pool or the water park during the heat of the day and still have enough time to go to a park when it was cooler.
