When to do online check-in?

We are coming down Aug. 10th-18th...
I plan on doing online check-in (staying at All Star Sports), but when is the best time to do that? I know it's available like 45 days before, but that seems way too early...? Does the reservation need to be paid in full first I guess?
Is it better to check-in like 1-2 days before? 10 days before? Any experiences?
If I had to pick, we are most "concerned" with getting our request of home run hotel than the room being ready when we arrive around 12-1pm...
Thanks!

If you have your requests on your reservation, it really doesn't matter if you use online check-in. They changed it to 60 days in preparation for the fastpass+ system but that does not affect requests.

Checking in online in no way effects the requests you have made. Your room is assigned before you arrive whether you do it or not. All rooms are assigned.
Online check in can only save you time. If you are not happy with the room you were given, you can always ask for another one if you are willing to wait for it.
You do not have to pay in full before using it.
