when to do family magic tour?

I've decided to do the Family Magic Tour with my family (DH, DD-4 & DD-23 months at time of trip). Our trip is Sat., Sept. 25-Sat., Oct. 2. Should I schedule the tour for our first full day (Sun.) or should I wait for another day? Is Sun. one of the more crowded days at MK?

I struggled wiht the same decision when I scheduled our tour for November. I finally decided to to it toward the end of the trip...that at the beginning my kids will be more eager to ride than participate with anything else. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will have a blast!!

We just did this. I'd suggest early in your trip. It is alot of walking. They'll be more eager I would think earlier on before they wear out near the end of your stay. Plus, it will probably still be hot.

Although it says stroller friendly, my youngest at three sat in her stroller most of the tour and was too far back to really get what was going on.. Totally not interested in it until Peter came near the end. Then she perked up.

I have to offer a different suggestion...we did the Family Magic Tour at the end of our trip and I think it was more fun for the kids...they were very familiar with the park by that point and were able to solve the clues with confidence! JMHO! Either way, it is a fun tour and my kids still talk about it six months later! Enjoy!!

We did the family magic tour when our kids were almost 6, and they were just about able to keep up with all the walking, catch on to the clues and jokes, and follow along with the jist of the whole thing. And at one part when the clues are written on a scroll and the kids in our group all took turns reading them , only the older kids were really able to do that. The tour is about 2 hours long and just about all that time is spent with a CM (who is very fun and entertaining) -- but not a character -- only about the last 20 or 30 minutes are with Peter Pan. Honestly, unless your 4 year old is a huge Peter fan, it really might not be worth the $$$ for you. Just one mom's opinion......

I agree ellen. Actually, here I'll copy and paste from my recent trip report -

Family Magic Tour, used our DVC discount, but still not worth the money. An hour and a half of hot, boring “scavenger hunt” that my youngest was completely uninterested in and sat in her stroller most of the time. We also had a hard time keeping up as the park was so crowded. The last thirty minutes picked up when Peter Pan joined us and my youngest jumped out to join the rest of the kids. He deserved an Academy Award for sure! Both DH and I agreed he must be exhausted by the end of the day. He was just fab! He took us to see PhilharMagic and both my daughters sat on either side of him. He talked to my youngest the entire time, helping her with her glasses, hugging her, etc. They became Honorary Lost Girls after it was all done. Fun at the end, but they need to work on the first part of the tour.
