when to come after new year?

Hi

We we're planning on coming new year, but have now thought it's best to wait until just after.
What i want to know is, what date do the kids go back to school? When after new years does it get less crowded? when would be a good time to arrive?

Most schools go back the first Monday after New Years (unless New Years is a Sunday, then it's a week later). My neice's school takes a 3 week break, but they're a little unusual. The parks are really empty between the end of winter break and Lincoln's B-day, though a lot of districts are on year-round, including Anaheim I believe, so usually that means at any given time almost 1/3 of the local kids are off, though they are all off for winter break.

This year we went on 1/3 and 1/4 which were Saturday and Sunday. It was a bit crowded, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I would imagine that if we had been able to go 1/5, it would have been a lot less crowded with folks leaving. We also didn't get to stay very late on Sunday either, so it may have gotten less crowded with folks leaving to catch planes and go home.

Most schools in the area go back on the first Monday after New Years Day. We do have a few year long schools that might have a couple more days. But for the most part, everybody's heading back home by middle of that week.
