When to buy tickets?

We are planning to go to WDW this March but it’s still up in the air given all that’s going on. I haven’t bought park tickets yet as I don’t really want to put out the cash if we won’t be able to go. But given that we need to make park reservations at some point (how far out should we do this?) I’m thinking I need to bite the bullet sooner than later. I know with UCT they have a refund policy, but don’t believe you can link them to MDE and still qualify for the refund. Is that right?

So much has changed since we went last. I used to feel like I could plan our trips in my sleep, but I feel like this is my first time and it feels quite overwhelming now!

Any tips?

Are you stating on site? Could you do a package? Then you only have to put out $200 deposit and can cancel 30 days before, no loss or being stuck with tickets.

I am hoping for one day in March but not sure we will be able to go so have also been holding off on getting the tickets.

Park reservations don’t seem to fill up at all anymore. I think that was just a thing when really limited capacity and then the start of the 50th, etc. I just looked at calendar and all dates even as close as tomorrow have full availability. I won’t be shocked if they stop the park reservation system soon.

I would probably hold off a bit more but it’s whatever you feel comfy with. We are hoping to go mid April and although we have our Disney tickets from last year, we are holding off getting our Universal passes until about 6 weeks before going.

follow up question. 3 of our 5 tickets are expired. How the heck do we reserve park dates for our kids when we can no longer see them in MDE?

We are hoping to go in March as well but so far I’ve held off on buying my tickets … as others have said the park reservation system doesn’t seem to sell out all that quickly. I think I’ll buy them in February when we have a clearer picture as to if we will actually be able to go.

I believe park passes filled up a few days during American Thanksgiving and christmas/new years. I know March break isn't quite as busy as those, but its close. I would not think any will sell out, but I could see MK being full for a day maybe.

I have my passes booked for March

we are staying with our DVC points

Good to know the reservations aren’t filling up too quickly so I have some time. Thanks for sharing

I am going in March as well with my DVC points and have been holding off on buying tickets. Not sure yet if we will be able to travel. I have to decide by January 31 as I will need to bank my points if we don't go.

I would keep an eye on the park pass availability, and if you start seeing any days near your trip selling out for any parks, then I'd buy tickets. Either that or once you know for sure that you'll be going.

That is one of the biggest downsides now to having to make reservations, especially if going at a busy time of the year, when the parks could potentially reach capacity. We have next Christmas/NYE planned and fortunately, I still have a set of Canadian discount non-expiring tickets left (purchased a whole bunch of them back then), so I was able to make reservations already. Planning on MK on Christmas day and that park always reaches capacity that day. I might actually keep the tickets for that reason only, if they continue with the reservation system going forward.

Also planning on Disneyland in the summer, but holding off on buying tickets, hoping a Canadian discount will come, especially if our dollar keeps dropping.
