Howdy~
We are planning to be in LA July, 2019. We we would like to spend a few days “doing” Disney. We want to do both parks and the Walking in Walt’s Footsteps tour.
Couple questions:
-How far in advance should we buy tickets for parks?
-Walking in Walt’s Footsteps Tour?
-And, suggestions on which order we should do these parks and tour? Hi
Thank you, kindly,
Robin
You'll need to wait until closer to 2019 to buy your tickets. Tickets expire, so you don't want to accidentally buy tickets that expire in 2018 and have to then pay more at the gates. Prices usually go up in February, so buying your tickets in January is a pretty fair bet to avoid higher rates. You can buy from Disney, of course, or from some third-party vendors like GetAwayToday, or Last Minute Travel Club (which is often the cheapest), or something like Tickets At Work or Life Balance Program.
Walking in Walt's Footsteps tour is great. It seems to be hit-or-miss on the 30-day or 60-day mark for reservations, so I call at 60 days and see what they say. I can't remember what they told me when I booked for my tour this last January. I would recommend doing the tour on a second day. I did it on the first day of my last trip, and spent the first part of my day being afraid to miss the check-in time for my tour, and then 3 hours for the tour, and another 45 minutes for lunch (I was solo, but the rest of the touring group was a chatty bunch at lunch!).
Be forewarned that Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will be opening sometime in 2019; we don't know if it's going to be Spring, Summer, or Fall 2019. So, crowds could be terrible when you are there, depending on if SW:GE has opened or not. However, 7/17 will generally be busy no matter what--that's
Disneyland's birthday, and the locals seem to come out to celebrate if their passes aren't blocked.
