If you are taking an early Dec. trip when is the best time to get your plane tix. Is it better to jump on them now at just under 200. Phila to Orlando, or wait till we get closer and keep an eye on fares as they will probably drop. Any thoughts?

If you're looking at just after the Thanksgiving weekend, I would wait for those airfares to come down. USAir and Southwest have been battleing it out all summer and USAir had been actively promoting their "Go Fares" at $49 OW PHL->MCO. If flight times are not especially important to you, the chances are very good that you'll get a better rate than "just under $200". Just keep looking.

Also- sign up for Travelocity farewatcher. You give them a few different airports around your region and they will track the fares for you and email you when the rates change. I found a great deal thru Sidestep.com. you have to download it, but it's free. I couldn't find anything under $200 at the time. There was a bunch of philly flights well below $200. We ended up scooping up a $115 RT flight out of Newark. If you can be flexible, you will see alot of cheap flights. Good luck.

I got ours several months ago. $130 out of Albany, NY to orlando. Figured can't beat that. We got ours from Orbitz. Rememeber those of you who have Upromise account to go through Upromise before purchasing your tickets on Orbitz. It was not available when I got our tickets.

A couple weeks ago there were tons of flights in the $120. range. Now they are all up to 200. or so. I am flexible. Even on the date. We want to take a trip while decorations are up but when it's not too crowded. I guess I'll keep playing around with the search engines. I want to book the room in the next week or so while the room discounts are still available though. So can't wait too long.

I'm waiting to buy for mid Dec. - I've seen some dirt cheap rates of 49$ one way - right now for my dates they are 99$ one way....

I'm thinking they will come down - if it hits in the 60's I'll probably buy. It's like playing the stock market....;)

I could have gotten the tickets about a week ago for a quick November trip for about 130, had to wait a week and they are now around 180 errrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

got mine last night. PHL to MCO on USair for $126.00 plus tax.
Checked travelocity and cheaptickets.com and took the lowest quote to USair, who, when informed of the low price, matched it.
With fuel prices fluctuating, and the heating(i.e. heating oil) season approaching, I don't know if those discounts would be offered if the price of jet fuel rose.

I bought mine last month. RT from Boston/Orlando was $139. Definitely worth the hassle of getting into the city for me.

I got ours last month non stop flight out of Rochester the first week of Dec. for $170. I'm sure the prices will drop by $20 a ticket again, but I wanted the direct flight down and back.
Can't beat getting there in 2 & 1/2 hours! :)

cranky, right after you posted I searched again. I use all different dates in Dec. and can't get anything less then 180. And that is with transfers.
