When to book room for Oct, when to buy AP

I know AP discounts won't be out for a while, but I want to be sure I can get an AS "reg" room rather than "preferred". Should I book now and apply AP discount, or wait until the rates come out? How does this work with the AP discount and the different types of AS rooms? When should I buy AP so I can avoid a rate increase? Thanks!

No increases in ticket prices have been announced. It wasn't until September last year that they were raised. You can order the voucher from Disney or the Disney store anytime you are ready for it. It will not become active until you turn it in at one of the customer relations booths at one of the parks. I'd go ahead and book the room and then if a code comes out you can apply it to your reservation. Be sure to book through CRO because if you book through WDTC you will have to cancel and rebook, apply a new deposit/wait for a credit, etc.
